 | Beautiful Dreamer –
								Forever People
This week we are onto the next group in the
Superman line up – New Gods. I have been hearing
a lot about New Gods – especially how they are
supposed to be the next Doom. That is why the
cards I have chosen for this week are not only
easy to get (for the most part), but they also
incorporate some of the board control aspects
								that Doom players love.

To start out, let’s look at a card that can help
you keep your more valuable characters on the
field longer. Of course I am talking about
								Beautiful Dreamer – Forever People.

 As a 2/2 for a 2-drop this card isn’t much to
look at on the surface. However her cosmic
effect can be pretty useful later on in the
game. Beautiful Dreamer’s cosmic effect states
that when it becomes stunned, you may recover
								another stunned character you control.
Basically, that means that this character
provides you a one-shot deal to help you out in
the area of board control. All you have to
remember is that you need to hide this character
somewhere in your support row so that she
doesn’t get stunned first...otherwise your great
opportunity will be flushed down the drain. In
my opinion this card is better recruited later
in the game, on a turn where you do not have the
								initiative...probably on turn 5. Otherwise,
there isn’t much to say about this card.

 Ratings:
New Gods constructed deck – 2.0/5.0 ...If it
were not for the one-shot deal, I would rate
								this card higher.

Limited – 2.5/5.0 ...Board control is extremely
important in this format. However, you will more
than likely end up with a liability on the field
								during the next turn.

 | Beautiful Dreamer -
Forever People: This week is New Gods week and
we start off with a 2 drop named Beautiful
Dreamer. I had to spell her name out because
beautiful is always one of those words that I
								tend to misspell.
Nothing too appealing with Beautiful Dreamer,
she has average stats for a 2 drop and even
though her picture appears that she is flying,
she actually does not have Flight or Range. Her
Cosmic Power is interesting enough but I really
don’t see it making a huge impact and it is very
easy to get around by stunning Beautiful Dreamer
								first.

Constructed: 2/5 – I would much rather use
Serifan or Vykin as my New Gods 2 drop than
Beautiful Dreamer. Her Power isn’t warranted
enough to play her. But who knows maybe someone
will find a way to make it useful.

Limited: 3/5 – A little bit better here but
there are a handful of 2 drops with a 3 DEF in
this set and unless you plan on Team Attacking
with your 1 Drop and Beautiful Dreamer shew ont
be doing much. Her power does come in handy
during draft as most likely you will have only a
couple copies or even only a single copy of a
character that you really want to keep on the
board. Like I said before though all you have to
do is stun Beatiful Dreamer 1st and her effect
								is basically useless.

 | Beautiful Dreamer -
								Forever People
This week we're looking at the New Gods, the
dirty hippies of Jack Kirby's Fourth World
comics. At best, Beautiful Dreamer forces your
opponent to play around her effect. They'll want
to stun her first, so that she can't use her
ability to recover the next one of your
characters they stun. If you manage to protect
her, she can help you keep some serious board
								control.
Of course, you'll be doing it at the expense of
a lot of endurance, 2/2 isn't going to last long
against any deck. You can use her as a one-shot
free recovery, or keep bringing her back and
using other cards to put another Cosmic counter
on her, allowing her to continue recovering your
guys. She also works well if you want to run
Infinity Man, keeping more Forever People on the
								board for turn 7.

In Limited, she's a bigger asset. She's not team
stamped, so she can bring back any of your guys
when she gets stunned. Her size is puny, but
most of the time you'll want her to get
stunned...just not before your bigger characters
								do.

								| Paul Hagan | Beautiful Dreamer,
								Forever People --
When I first saw this card, I thought it was
really good, but the more I think about it, the
less I like Beautiful Dreamer. Don't get me
wrong -- there aren't a lot of great options as
far as 2-Drops go with regards to the New Gods,
so you should probably play this card in a
strait-New Gods deck. However, don't expect to
get a lot of mileage out of Beautiful Dreamer.
If your opponent is a half-way decent player,
Beautiful Dreamer will be the first card on
their list to ensure that her ability isn't
								used.

In limited, I'm a lot more likely to play
Beautiful Dreamer, especially since she doesn't
have loyalty and her ability isn't New Gods
								specific.
