Virtual World Mai-Hime – Lulu – #PHRA-EN010

If this card is in your hand: You can target 1 “Virtual World” card you control; send 1 “Virtual World” card of a different type (Monster, Spell, Trap) from your Deck to the GY, and if you do, Special Summon this card, then, you can add 1 “Virtual World” card of the third type from your Deck to your hand, except “Virtual World Mai-Hime – Lulu”. For the rest of this turn, you can only Special Summon Level/Rank 3 or higher monsters. You can only use this effect of “Virtual World Mai-Hime – Lulu” once per turn.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Virtual World Mai-Hime – Lulu continues our look at the top deck out there right now: 1st Turn VFD- I mean Virtual World.

Lulu is the searcher for the archetype, as well as their best Level 3 to go after with E-Teleport. Same Special Summon effect as most Virtual World monsters, but you get a search off her. You can arrange the way you summon her to decide what search you want, with the best searches being for the Spell or Monsters. Sending a Virtual World trap to the grave won’t hurt because you have ways of recouping the card. The goal is to make your Level 9 Synchro monsters to get to VFD and lock your opponent down, and Lulu being able to set up one of those Synchro Summons almost on her own is a great way to start. Emergency Teleport or a Virtual World/Psychic monster searcher will almost always target her.

Best of the Main Deck monsters are usually ones that search, Lulu continues that trend.

Time to look at the current metagame with our favorite VFD.dek, Virtual World, starting with one of their best monsters in the Deck: Virtual World Mai-Hime – Lulu.

Lulu is a Level 3 WIND Psychic Tuner with 1600 ATK and 600 DEF. Overall fine stats for Level 3, Psychic is great as Level 3 or lower for E-Tele, alongside the Tuner, the only real downer is being WIND when we still lack good WIND support. Most the Virtual World monsters in the Main Deck all do the same thing where you target a face-up Virtual World card you control and send a Virtual World card of a different card type (Monster, Spell, Trap) from the Deck to Special Summon your Virtual World and get a various effect. Lulu searches a Virtual World card of the third card type that you didn’t target on field and send to the graveyard, so target a Trap and dump a Spell and you get to search a monster, and I’m sure you get the idea there. Having a searcher is nice to get access to, you just need to target and dump the right cards so you get the specific card type you want. You are locked to only summoning Level and Rank 3 or higher monsters for the rest of the turn, which is fine mostly since you really only lose out on Link Monsters in Virtual World. It’s also a hard once per turn, because you can easily get a lot of monsters out otherwise. All the VW monsters feel like they’re 3-ofs now cause they help get your combos started, but Lulu is probably the most important of them all. It’s their best monster in the Main Deck.

Advanced Rating: 4/5

Art: 3.5/5 They’re strangely designed, but kinda intriguing.
