Just when you thought Dragon Undead Skull Dragon couldn’t get any bigger…it does.

Okay, aside from the meme plays with the enormous Skull Dragon numbers the first skill provides, what else is there? Well, Nightrose makes even the standard 17k column hit for 27k, but everything that boosts or attacks dies after the battle. On one hand, yay more opportunities to revive stuff like Thin Mist Banshee to draw more, but one thing that seems to get on my goat is that it seems rather impractical to try and combine the second skill in conjunction with the first to attack more than three times, because you only get to revive a single column.

Basically, imagine an empty board after you used Nightrose last turn. In order to actually get another rear-guard attack in, you’d have to -4 calling from hand and then having them die from swinging, before reviving a column, and then THAT dies too. Every turn you minus just to be Nova Grappler, and to be honest I’d much rather run Nova Grappler if I wanted that. Therefore, to preserve the Protect identity you’d have to just get used to holding onto two units from the hand to call and sacrifice, proc draw skills from Thin Mist Banshee and similar, and just swing with three columns normally.

So really, you can forget trying to go Protect 2 with Nightrose, because it’s useless if interceptors never linger. In summary, Nightrose isn’t awful, but DEFINITELY don’t try and make her into Nov Grappler. Not enough support for that.
