When a Spell/Trap Card, or monster effect, is activated while you control a “Vampire” monster: Negate the activation, and if you do, destroy that card, then, if it was a Monster Card, gain LP equal to its original ATK. You can only activate 1 “Vampire Domination” per turn.

The final card of the week is the new Counter Trap that Vampires got, and any deck getting a Counter Trap is nice. The new Counter Trap is Vampire Domination.

When a Spell/Trap Card or monster effect is activated while you control a Vampire monster, you can negate the activation and destroy that card, then if it was a monster card, you gain LP equal to the ATK the monster had. Domination is a hard once per turn. This is a really good Counter Trap for the deck. Being able to negate anything is great, and the added benefit of gaining LP if you negate a monster is amazing, cause remember Vampires love making you pay LP. Domination is at least a 2 of in the deck since it is searchable, but playing 3 isn’t that bad, it can just be a little win-more.

Closing our week is Vampire Domination, a Counter Trap, and much like our CotD Wednesday, can have a Vampire player take a rather unconventional approach to a Vampire Deck:  Lifepoint gain.  (Fire Princess Burn/Recovery maybe?  I think I mentioned that earlier too!).  This one is probably a little slower (as it’s not Continuous) to use than Wednesdays card, or at least a quicker way to increase your Lifepoints.  If you control a Vampire Monster, when a Monster effect, or Magic/Trap card is activated, you negate the activation (and if successful) you destroy the card.  If it was a Monster destroyed, you gain Lifepoints equal to the attack of that Monster.  You can only use one of these per turn, which makes sense.  Being able to negate too much, too quickly, isn’t fair.  But it’s still good negation, it’s honest only requiring a Vampire on the Field, and it’s a 1-for-1 (assuming it works) plus the potential to gain Lifepoints.  I like it

Baneful

 

A more powerful version of Solemn Judgment, but only a specific archetype can use.  This kind of design is nothing we haven’t seen before. It’s situational in depending on a monster to be viable, dead if your Vampire monster is removed from the field and if the opponent tries to use removal on it, you may be forced to use this card earlier than you would like to.

The strength of this card will depend on the overall consistency and power ceiling of the Vampire archetype, though nonetheless it’s a staple for its deck.  I would’ve liked support like this 10 years ago back when Vampire Lord was the only good Vampire monster and Vampire Lady was terrible.  But now, Vampire Lord takes a lot of effort to accomodate, and even these other several year old XYZ-era vampire cards require a potent card like this to be viable.
