– #DRL2-EN023

When this card is activated: Banish 3 cards from the top of your Deck, face-down. This card’s name becomes “Toon World” while in the Field Zone. Your opponent cannot target Toon monsters you control with card effects. If a Toon monster(s) you control would be destroyed by battle or card effect, you can banish 1 card from the top of your Deck, face-down, for each of those monster(s) instead.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Toon Kingdom is the Throwback choice for the week and put toons back into being a deck that could function in the changing meta.

A Field Spell instead of a Continuous Spell lent Terraforming and other Field Spell-centric strategies to benefiting from the field status change. Blanket protection of toons from targeting effects, as well as unlimited protection against destruction at the cost of one card banished each time made certain your opponent didn’t have as many easy outs to your big toon monsters. The number of cards banished can get up there: three upon activating Toon Kingdom and then one each time a destruction would happen to a toon(s). Despite that, you could replace your original Toon World cards with Toon Kingdom, add copies of Terraforming to search it and use Toon Table to search more important things. Cards like Burial from A Different Dimension and Necroface could also help regain lost cards. Cards that worked better with removed cards could also be used alongside toons now to benefit from the banishing. Now with the new support, Toon Kingdom’s protection power limits your opponent even more. There are so many ways in and out of the archetype to protect Toon Kingdom, and with Toon Kingdom covering your toons with protection you could easily overwhelm your opponent.

Toon Kingdom was good when it came out, and is now even better with support and tech cards able to protect it.

Throwback Thursday gives us the Toon card that let us no longer need the original Toon World, Toon Kingdom.

Kingdom is a Field Spell that when activated will banish the top 3 cards of your Deck face-down. Hopefully you can somehow stack your Deck so this banishes bricks, but 3 cards isn’t a massive loss for a card so good for Toons. It’s name becomes Toon World while in the Field Zone, which is great to let your Toons attack directly after the summoning sickness expires. Your Toons can’t be targeted by the opponent’s card effects, which is nice little protection for your monsters to keep them safe. More protection is added on as if your Toon monster or monsters would be destroyed, you can banish the top cards of your Deck face-down equal to the number of Toons that would be destroyed in order to protect them. This does everything for Toons as it’s Toon World that actually does something beyond the cost. It keeps Toons safe from targeting and destruction while you’re attacking directly with your Toons for some massive damage after summoning sickness expires. It’s also easy to access with Terraforming, Toon Table of Contents, and now Toon Bookmark to search. Play this at 3 and protect it in Toons.

Art: 4/5 Nice castle, but I kinda like Toon World more in terms of design.

Toon World 2.0 aka Toon Kingdom is an appropriate choice for Throwback Thursday this week.  This card gets to sit in the Field Zone, and while gives you the same Too. world abilities, does much more for you.
Activation of this card requires you to remove the top 3 cards of your Deck from play (face down).  I hate face down removal but I do think this is better than a 1000 Lifepoints cost on activation.
You gain protection from Targeted effects on your Toons, which isn’t a lot, but it’s enough of  something That should help you occasionally.  And you get to remove a card from play (again from the top of your Deck and face down) when a Toon is (are) destroyed by Battle or Effect.
Ironically, this doesn’t do anything to protect the Kingdom itself, and it’s amazing it protects as many Monsters you have on the Field.  Given you have the cards to remove.  But that face down removal can add up fast and that still troubles me.  Still a vast improvement over the original though.

Art:  Ehhhh 3.75/5 The castle is cool but there’s more to a Kingdom than a castle.  It’s a bit lazy to me.
