Time to Stand Up – #MAZE-EN017

If a Dragon Synchro Monster is on the field: Special Summon up to 2 monsters, that are “Resonator” monsters and/or Level 1 Dragon monsters, from your Deck. When a monster effect is activated, while you control a Level 10 or higher DARK Dragon Synchro Monster: You can banish this card from your GY; negate that effect, and if you do, 1 Synchro Monster you control gains 2000 ATK until the end of the next turn. You can only use each effect of “Time to Stand Up” once per turn.

We make to the weekend yet again and focus on the remaining 5D’s cards by showing Jack Atlas some love looking at Time to Stand Up.

Time to Stand Up is a Normal Trap where if there is a Dragon Synchro on the field, you can Special Summon up to 2 Resonator monsters and/or Level 1 Dragon monsters directly from your Deck. It’s nice to get some bodies on board I guess. If we go off the art, I guess they suggest this can help summon Majestic Red Dragon by summoning Majestic Dragon/Converging Wills Dragon and some other Level 1 Dragon, or you can summon 2 Resonators whose Levels add to 4 along with your Red Dragon Archfiend to make a Red Nova Dragon or one of his counterparts. It’d be better if this wasn’t on a Trap, but I guess they didn’t want to give the Red Dragon Archfiend strategy too much, especially since this does have a second effect that triggers in the graveyard when a monster effect is activated while you control a Level 10 or higher DARK Dragon Synchro, letting you banish this from the graveyard to negate that effect and have a Synchro you control gain 2000 ATK until the end of the next turn. Monster effect negation is never bad, and giving your already powerful Synchros a 2000 ATK boost to help go for game is a nice bonus as well. Too bad we don’t have Chaos Ruler in the TCG to help mill this to the graveyard, but that card already caused enough issues in other strategies as it was. Each effect is a hard once per turn, standard balancing procedures. It’s a fine Trap for the Red Dragon Archfiend strategy to be completely honest, I just don’t know how many Traps you want to use in that Deck to begin with. You need as many starters and extenders as possible to get your big Dragons on board and this is a little too slow to help with that. The negation is still good, so consider it if you wish.

Advanced Rating: 3/5

Art: 5/5 So first off, the OCG name of this card (The Great Soul) references the summon chant in the original version of 5D’s for Majestic Red Dragon while the TCG name references the moment where Jack Atlas met his fake counterpart, declaring for the real Jack Atlas to stand up before the attack depicted in the artwork, which is Majestic Red Dragon attacking the 3 fake Red Dragon Archfiends of different colors used by the fake Jack.
