doc Today we look at what might be the best card in First Edition Part 2. The uncommon Gearsmith character Schproingmajig.

If not the best, certainly the first card to incite calls of “broken!”

For a cost of 6 with threshold 2, this 4/4/2 has more consistent potential than any other character to become HUGE. Berserker Corps makes permanent gains where Schproingmajig’s gains are temporary, but sooner or later the chances are that the Corps will have to eat itself while the S-Majig drives on. With every character you deplete the S-Majig gains +2/+2

Oh, then there’s that other ability. The Schproing! in Schproingmajig. Destroy one of your characters and attack with S-Majig solo and he’s unblockable. How can you beat that? And what’s the first combo you should shoot for with S-Majig? Why Micromajig Shipping Container of course! Deplete MSC (+2/+2), destroy MSC (unblockable) deplete you 5 new Micromajig tokens (+10/+10) and your just smashed face for 16 on turn 4 and should have game on turn 5.

Powerful? No doubt. Unstoppable? No. Best card in Part 2? Maybe…

In limited, it may be the best card period. In constructed, it was almost universally added to the dominant Node decks from First Edition.

Ian Spiegel Schproingmajig

Oh here we go. I could write volumes on this amazing piece of R&D  tested, player approved craziness- the Schproingmajig. This guy is a six cost double Gearsmith threshold character with 4 strength, 4 life, and 2 speed. By himself he isn't much to be afraid of, but his three effects make him one of the most incredible characters in the game currently.

His first ability allows him to deplete another character in order to add two strength and two life to his four. This means a humoungous blocker and attacker, especially when combined with cheap efficient characters in order to create one gigantic beatstick.

His second ability allows him to sacrifice another character in order to make him unblockable. This is an amazing ability, completely intertwined with the first in that you can pump him with the first ability and then make him unblockable. When combined with cards like Micromajig Shipping Container, this card can win you games singlehandidly.

In constructed this card defines Gearsmtih in my eyes. In limited, he makes players go deep into the Gearsmith trade.
