doc Today we look at the biggest single direct damage card in the Open Beta set, the Uncommon Warlord Tactic Bask Bile.

To start, I’ve got to mention the flavor text: “For the melting of troops and stuff. Available in french onion, barbeque ranch, or original nacho cheese flavor.”

Now onto the card…

For a cost of 7 with an easy to attain threshold of 2, doing 5 damage to a character or faction is HUGE. With a little support, four of these played in rapid succession spell “you win”. With only one card that negates the effect of a card (another Warlord Tactic, Tactician Vacation); the probability of it getting through is about 99.5%. (100% unless your opponent is playing Warlord!)

With that said, combining Bask Bile with the Arcanist Tactic Voidal Replilcation (copies the last Tactic played this turn for a cost of 3) and/or the Warlord Tactic Dragon’s Strategy (inflict 2 damage to opponent’s Faction) and/or the Arcanist Tactic Remember (recursion for a Tactic) you’re looking at MASS direct damage in a short amount of time.

In limited, 5 direct damage can easily make the difference between win and lose.
In constructed, 2-4 copies in a Warlord deck are nearly a given. In a speed Warlord deck that only has 2 Staple Resources (the 2 you start with in play), you’re definitely using 4!

lgmk Bask Bile

This card is fairly simple. Five damage to a character or a faction. On one side, it can be game ending. On the other, you can do the same with a well played Dragon Juice. And seeing as Dragon Juice costs five less than this to play, I'm sticking with Dragon Juice.

Of course, I'm still going to play Bask Bile in some decks. It's just that a two cost tactic is almost as good.

2/5 Sealed

2/5 Standard Warlord Constructed

4/5 Slapdash Damage Warlord
