What better to celebrate the coming of Christmas that with Sarcophyles!  We start Sarc week with the common Rogue character Hyperphagic Sacrophyle.

This 3 cost 2 threshold character has barely passable stats at 2/2/2.  As with so many other cards, there must be some redeeming factor to this Sarcophyle.  With the Hyperphagic version, every token you can get on it give it a +1 strength and life.  Not only may you add tokens adlib, every time this slow poke hits your opponents Faction for damage, it earns a token.

With proper attacking party formation, it shouldn’t be difficult to clear out potential blockers with faster characters leaving a clear path for this Sarc to start chipping away at your opponents Faction and getting bigger and bigger every turn.  After all, isn’t that the very meaning of Hyperphagic Sarcophyle?  A hyper eating disorder involving one who eats animal flesh…  Yummy!

In limited, I wouldn’t hesitate to fill out my Rogue character slots with Hyper Sarcs.  In constructed, there aren’t that many Sarcs to really make a Sarc deck, but if you wanted to make a crazy token deck, he’d fit right in.

Lastly, with this just the tip of the Sarcophyle iceberg (think of future sets) I can’t wait to see what these little nasties have in store for us!

Limited: 3.5/5

Constructed 2.5/5

lgmk Our first sacrophyle for the week is definitely the ugliest. Every image of sacrophyles on other card portrays beauteous, sexual creatures. This one shows several large monsters, engorged on blood. Ew.

As a card, it's pretty good. At a glance, its stats are nothing to gloat about, 2/2/2. The speed in particular is mediocre. Headlong Purloiner has the same cost and stats, only with four speed. But Headlong Purloiner can't pull all the tricks that this can.

Whenever Hyperphagic Sacrophyle manages to damage your opponent's faction, it gets a token. Then for each token it gets +1/+1. With it's two speed you can send in a fast character, like Headlong Purloiner in the same party as our sacrophyle here in order to deal damage with Hyperphagic. Then Hyperphagic gets a little bit stronger. The sacrophyle also goes well with Arcanist token generation. There's no limit to how big it can get.

And let me tell you, the foil version of this card is frightening.

Sealed: 3/5
Draft: 4/5
