doc The newest form of re-usable bounce, today we look at the Rare Arcanist Character Gargantuan Garbler.

High cost combined with high threshold always means huge beat stick or fantastic ability. In this instance, your 9 cost 4 threshold Character gives you an above average Covert beat stick with 6/6/3 stats and a whopper of an ability. "If this card attacks, you may pick a character. If you do, put that character into its owner's hand."

Facing down only one Covert Character? Bounce. No Coverts to worry about? Pick a threat and... Bounce. Got an Ejector with no tokens on it? Bounce, wash, rinse repeat on any non-resource card, not just a Character.

If you're like me, thinking about how you could pull off a Covert deck, it just got a whole lot easier!

In limited, Gargantuan Garbler is almost it's own win condition. In Constructed it is!

Limited: 4.5/5
Constructed: 5/5

It's stats certainly aren't anything to scream about, not for a cost of nine. Covert doesn't do much to change that. But then we get to the effect. That effect functions as a Quotidian Assassination that activates for free whenever you attack with it. That is astounding. You can bounce your own Swarm of Gnats or the highest cost character your opponent has. Or your opponent's only covert character. It's useful, there's no doubt about that.

It's a four threshold in Obsession. That makes it harder to get out in Sealed, though still a good play.

The key to playing this card is that its Covert. That means you should be able to do damage with this card, especially considering that you get to return the character of your choice to its owners hand. That will likely end up being a covert blocker much of the time.

Sealed: 4/5
Constructed: 3.5/5
