It’s…okay? I mean, it has the potential to be a straight +1 to you, but strictly speaking since only Metallica Phoenix currently gets you a +0 wash after discarding a G3 to go into a G4 the way old Stride did, that’s relative.

Another thing that holds it back is that it doesn’t synergise with Nextage. Late Game, the attacking dynamics are different: the Vanguard will want to attack first so that Critical Triggers can be passed to a rear-guard to keep up pressure, and Nextage vanishes after attacking and paying the cost, which means you won’t get to draw…unless you attack with this BEFORE the Vanguard does, so fuck you if either this is your only other attacker, or the opponent scores a fifth damage trigger because of this.

It’s not BAD, but stuff that doesn’t get in your way will probably be more desirable. The retire’s nice but not really running EXCLUSIVELY for that purpose.
