Killer_Nacho Leia, Bounty Hunter

Normally, I'm not a huge fan of non-Jedi melee attackers. They are simply too frail and difficult to get into the fight, and when they do, they really don't end up doing a whole lot. That being said, there are a few good non-Jedi melee attackers in the game, most of them due to the abilities they have. The question is, does Leia BH have enough of these abilities to warrant use?

For starters, Leia is a cheap (but not too cheap!) unit, costing 26 points. Her stats are pretty average for her cost. 70 HP is solid and an odd number, which is always good (to avoid being 3hko by pesky 20 damage attackers). 9 attack isn't too shabby, but the 17 defense is on the low end. She also has the normal damage value of 20, which is actually pretty good. I half expected her to have 10, considering she isn't wielding a lightsaber. Last, she is a Melee Attacker which is horrible, since that requires her to get adjacent to enemy units to attack. She does have Double Attack, but she will hardly get a chance to use it since she won't be able to take too many hits from Melee enemies. Leia BH does have Stealth, which means she will be able to sneak up on enemy squads, which is a plus, as well as Evade which also helps her take nonmelee hits. Surpsinginly enough, Leia BOUNTY HUNTER does not actually have the Bounty Hunter special ability... which would've been nice to have.

There are two reasons why you would want to play Leia BH. The first is one of her abilities, Electrostaff +20, which is a great ability. It makes Leia BH deal 20 damage more when hitting non-living enemies and has a chance to activate living enemies. Leia BH can easily sneak up on enemy squads with Stealth and Evade, then activate a powerful living character or simply smash a powerful droid in the face for 40 damage. Of course, the first scenario also requires you to win initative next round or you are about to be smashed by a powerful living character... The second reason you would use Leia BH is her rather interesting Force ability, Force Sense. This is a very powerful ability that gets rid of those annoying Stealth characters in your opponent's squad for a turn. While Leia BH only has two force points, you can combine her with a force battery like Yoda of Degobah to really abuse this effect. Unfortanutely, these two abilities don't really have great synergy since Leia would like to stay in the back lines and abuse her Force power, yet in order to make use of the Electrostaff, she has to get close.

Overall, we have an average piece. She can still be good in the right team, since she does have a useful and pretty exlusive force ability (not to mention the Electrostaff). Go ahead and try her out, but don't expect too much. If she didn't have Melee Attack, she would be an excellent piece for the Rebels but she does so... just another pretty average Leia, overall.

100 points: 2/5 I don't really like her here. Too many points for too little nothing... with so many heavy beatsticks in this format, she really won't be much use.

200 points: 3.5/5 Here she is a little easier to fit into a squad and Stealth armies seem to be pretty common, so she would be a good counter to those. I like her in 200 points. If I can get my hands on one, I think I'll play a Rebel squad with her in my next tournament.
