FP’s
Force 5, Force lightning 2, Riposte

Today’s review is Count Dooku of Serenno from the clone wars starter set. This Count is apparently based on the lightsaber skills of Dooku. His stats are typical Dooku with very good stats for his cost. The big one for me is the upgrade to 16 attack. The 130 HP definitely will last especially with the high defense of 21 with duelist and some other abilities and his damage is a standard 20.

His abilities like Wednesday’s piece are standard minus one. He has Melee, Double, and Lightsaber duelist all of which are very good and needed for him. The other is Makashi Style Mastery, which is Block, Parry, or Soresu except it makes his immune to 4 different types of styles 2 of which we haven’t seen yet. His force powers are also basic Dooku with Force Lightning 2 and Riposte one glaring weak spot is the lack of Renewal but that would’ve made this man uber sick.

Now to the weakness’ and they are big. First is the lack of a CE this is a freaking Sep leader yet he couldn’t have a CE heck I would’ve been happy to see Dark Inspiration again. However, not having a CE has some benefits though very minor given his faction. The second is of course no renewal for obvious reasons. The third and is probably the worst why should I play him over Tyranus, LotD. I mean for 2 less points you less only Makashi and the 16 attack but you gain Block, Renewal a much more potent lightning (though it cant chain off) and MotF 2.

100: 4/5 I’ll give him the BOTD for this really should be a 3.5 but with his anti-meleeness and all the big jedi running around plus enough room left for good support I’ll let him slip with a 4

200: 2.5/5 Now in this format there is really no reason to run him over Tyrannus LotD. With more points means longer battles and you’ll want to be able to have your force last.

Note: Since we don’t have Ninman or Shi-Cho styles yet he fits in the same niche as Uliq did and he then he can reach his full potential

Sith Dragon Count Dooku of Serrano
Separatist
Cost: 51
HP: 130
DEF: 21
ATK: +16
DAM: 20

Double Attack; Lightsaber Duelist; Makashi Style Mastery;

Force 5
Force Lightning 2; Lightsaber Riposte

Today we look at the newest Dooku. He is decent. He can be good if you build for him, yet he in no way replaces any of his other counter parts. he is the second most expensive of the bunch and is tied for best HP, DEF and attack with the only other Dooku that costs more. In the end all of his stats are pretty good.

His defense is bolstered by lightsaber duelist, which is pretty much the trademark of Dooku. His lone, new ability is Makashi Style Mastery. This is the ultimate in parry. In Obi we basically had parry by a new name, but Dooku's Makashi negates Soresu as well as Shii-Cho, Niman and Ataru. This is nothing really new. It just a different parry that shuts down these other abilities. It adds a bit of appropriate flavor to the characters as Obi could never do well against Dooku.

Force powers are pretty limited as are his force points. He has Lightning 2, which is the renaming of the original chain lighting. He also has riposte, which is really nice against other melee characters.

Melee is going to have a hard time touching Dooku, but unlike Obi, he lacks renewal and mettle. His rolls will be much more fallible than Obi's. If you run this Dooku you are most likely going to run one of the Sidious for access to more force points. This dooku isn't bad, he just isn't real great. As superhuman as they made Obi, you would think that they would have made Dooku a bit more "wow", but unfortunately without renewal and/or mettle, he just fails to draw that little extra that will make you want to play him over any of the others. I really dont rate him better than any of the other versions, but if you have him and want ot play him, go for it. As i said, his biggest strength is going to be that Melee is going to have a hard time hitting him.
