Springans Merrymaker – #LIOV-EN041

2 Level 4 monsters – If this card is Special Summoned from your Extra Deck: You can send 1 “Springans” monster from your Deck to the GY. During your opponent’s Main or Battle Phase (Quick Effect): You can banish this card until the End Phase, then if you banished this card with 2 or more Xyz Materials, you can also send 1 Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck to the GY that lists “Fallen of Albaz” as material. You can only use each effect of “Springans Merrymaker” once per turn.

Midweek brings us to something Springans needed, a Rank 4, so here we are with Springans Merrymaker.

Merrymaker is a Rank 4 FIRE Machine with 1100 ATK and 2000 DEF. Another case of good DEF to make up for low ATK, FIRE is fun and Machine is great. 2 Level 4s makes this generic enough to try mixing stuff with Springans to make them operate better potentially. Upon Special Summon from the Extra Deck, you can send a Springans monster from Deck to grave, which is nice to get a monster you want in grave there instantly. We see the same effect we saw on Exblower where it banishes itself during the opponent’s Main or Battle Phase until the End Phase, just this time it can send a Fusion that lists Fallen of Albaz in its text from the Extra Deck to grave if you had 2 or more Xyz Materials on this card when it was banished. Pretty good to send the Springans-based Fusion to get a search/summon for a Springans during the End Phase. Hard once per turns again to balance this out. Overall it’s probably the support you’d want to see for an archetype like Springans. They need a lot more, but a card like this is a step in the right direction.

Springans Merrymaker (ones’ definition of Merry may vary from us to them) is a Rank 4, Fire/Machine (Fire, still bad for Serpents, and also tends to be not good for Machines, but here we are) with 1100 attack and 2000 defense, needing any two Level 4 Monsters for an XYZ Summon.  So we see to start this guy has low attack and defense  An automatic Monster dump (in Theme) from your Deck upon Special Summon is something about every Theme can enjoy these days, in one way or another.  A Quick Effect you can use during your opponent’s Main or Battle Phase, gives you the ability to remove this card from play for the Turn.  If it had 2 or more XYZ Material when you did, you can dump a Fusion from your Extra Deck, so long as it has ‘Fallen of Albaz’ on it as Material.  Each Effect, is once per Turn, here I believe to keep you from dumping too much too quickly, and recovering just the same.  So this one makes sense to me.  It’s a nice piece of support for a very under appreciated Theme.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Springans Merrymaker is the only Xyz and Springans monster we’re reviewing this week.

Generic materials means easy to summon. Low ATK but decently high DEF. Foolish Burial for Springans that will benefit you regardless of what you send. All Springans will attach to Merrymaker once in the grave, but Brothers can Special Summon another Springans and Branga can be used with another Springans to search any Springans card. Banishing itself during your opponents turn helps avoid targeting or blanket-style effects. Tossing a Fusion Monster into the grave involving “Fallen of Albaz” will activate the Fusion Monster’s effect. When concerning Springans, you’ll send most of the time Sprind the Irondash Dragon. If you mix in other monsters you may send a different one, but this one gets you a Springans search or a Special Summon from the deck, a +1 while you avoid your opponent’s moves with Merrymaker.

Merrymaker can easily attach itself with several materials to continue to send Fusion Monsters to the graveyard. You only get the Foolish Burial off the Xyz Summon, but the dodge move is cost-free and can get you a plus each time as long as long as you have the Fusion Monster and two materials attached (this effect too is cost-free). Merrymaker doesn’t cost anything to do its thing, and that makes is a great card.
