Well, at least it isn’t complicated. Spectral Duke’s first skill is pretty much a nice bonus on top of whatever you manage to succeed in doing…but I suppose it helps that the second skill can retire Scout of Darkness and Black Dragon Knights Vortimer (or is it SOD and BDK Vortimers?) and they move to soul to recoup resources. Extra Crit is gravy enough, I mean you can get the skill by your Turn 3 if you go second…over half the time? I forget the odds exactly but I guess it’ll do. It’s just a nice bonus and a way to fight back against other Accel by having the extra 1k power.

2nd skill is what you bet on Duke for. Drive -1 after you CB1 and -3 from field. Now, it’s a minus I prefer because it does not cut into hand, so on your turn defending is easier. An overall -2 after your extra Drive to force out more shield is…not brilliant, especially as Duke doesn’t power up itself, but on the plus side, Late Game it becomes a +0 wash, GAINING a Drive instead of losing one.

Most major downside? Spectral Duke has very little interaction with the rest of the Gold Paladins. A lot of them are tailored to call or be called from the deck, then proc whatever. Comparatively little if that gain extra skills that capitalise on Duke’s natural style of play. I mean, at least off the top of my head Knight of Resolution Bethoc can like, SOMETIMES let Duke swing for at least 17-18k every Vanguard attack if she isn’t sacked…?

The GP deck that I would prefer aside from Platina Ezel. I dunno if Duke is going to be equal to it or surpass it, but given that re-standing and/or multi attacking is generally what the most effective strategy is it should on paper do something.

3/5
