Hello Pojo Fans,

I went nuts back in the day when Secret Village of the Spellcasters came out. Finally it was my time to shine as a Caster user and a control-based one at that.

Field Spell, you have a Spellcaster, your opponent isn’t playing spells. If you don’t have one, you aren’t playing spells. This card has seen a rise in play since more forms of good Spellcasters have been released in recent memory, alongside with archetypes like Witchcrafter and Altergeist. It is a side deck card for sure if you are running a Spellcaster-based strategy, and is incredibly useful against spell-heavy decks like True Draco and Sky Striker. It makes me happy to see this card has risen in popularity. Searchable with Terraforming and Metaverse, with more ways to play it and more support to use with it, I can see Secret Village hanging around.

Advanced-4/5- Sometimes a main deck choice, a great side deck choice, but you need to run Spellcasters as a strategy, otherwise it isn’t useful to you.

Good Morning! Secret Village of the Spellcasters is a very easy Field Spell Card to review. If you run a deck of Spellcasters, put this in your main or side deck to shut your opponent out of activating all Spell Cards. If they also run Spellcasters, keep it in your side deck, because then they can activate Spell Cards. That’s it. There’s no cost, no specific archetype, no once per turn, and no real catch. If you don’t control a Spellcaster you can’t activate Spells, so the counter to this is something like DNA Transplant, but I wouldn’t worry about that. Secret Village of the Spellcasters has a lot of current use and future potential because of how easily it can shut out a lot of cards and relevant meta decks. It looks awesome too.

An anti-Spell Field Spell makes sense for an archetype full of Spellcasters that rely on Spells, so today we look at Secret Village of the Spellcasters.

Secret Village is a Field Spell that prevents your opponent from activating Spell Cards if you control a Spellcaster monster while your opponent doesn’t. A great card in matchups that rely on Spells but don’t have any Spellcasters while you do. Spells are some of the best cards in the game, a big chunk of the F/L List is taken up by Spells, so having a way to prevent them from being used is great. This completely shuts down Pendulum Decks as well unless they have Spellcasters, which Pendulum Magicians, Mythical Beasts, and Endymions are all Spellcasters, so there’s that. There is a downside where if you don’t have a Spellcaster, then you can’t activate Spells, so it’s a double-edged sword, but you should be playing a ton of Spellcasters if you play this, so the downside isn’t that bad at all. Secret Village is a great Field Spell in many different Spellcaster decks that are out there, and a guaranteed Main or Side Deck option for many of said decks, depends on if the meta is full of Spellcasters or not.

Ahh, Secret Village of the Spellcaster is our Throwback Thursday this week.  How appropriate.  This is a nifty card that came from Crossroads of Chaos, and in 2008 had one prior review, more or less at its prior release.

In short, as long as you control a Spellcaster(s), this becomes a one sided Imperial Order, and without a cost.  However, it comes with quite the downside, whereas if YOU control no Spellcaster(s) Monsters, you can’t play any Magic cards.  It’s further more intriguing this is a Field Magic card, and given that some Field Magics actually are played reasonably commonly, I list it being so as good and bad.

The biggest change here since its release is that this can nullify Pendulum cards (obviously the Magic side of them).  This is a card you need a dedicated Spellcaster build to be able to take full advantage of, which obviously (again) fits in so well with the theme here.  We’re getting a LOT more Spellcasters and support coming here sooner than not this year, so this card will only get better as 2019 proceeds y’all.

Rating:  4.75/5  Use, abuse, and enjoy

Art:  5/5  This is simple, but spooky enough, with the forest setting, as well as the glowing eyes and the random rays of sun.  Could be a dawn, but I’m assuming sunset.
