S-Force Bridgehead

S-Force Bridgehead – #BLVO-EN057

When this card is activated: You can add 1 “S-Force” monster from your Deck to your hand. When an opponent’s monster declares an attack on your “S-Force” monster in its same column: You can activate this effect; that monster you control cannot be destroyed by that battle. You can only use this effect of “S-Force Bridgehead” once per turn. You can only activate 1 “S-Force Bridgehead” per turn.

Hello Pojo Fans,

S-Force Bridgehead is your searcher and protector.

Every archetype gets a Field Spell nowadays, and S-Force are no exception. One-time search when played is standard, except Bridgehead only searches monsters, you’d like to see “card” instead of “monster” like with Chiyomaru’s effect. The immunity from battle destruction for a turn for one of your S-Force monsters helps the smaller monsters like Chiyomaru and Dog Tag if you plan on keeping them on the field, as well as almost any S-Force you brought out in defense mode with Chiyomaru due to the smaller DEF of the monsters. Keeping with the column strategy, Bridgehead only protects one monster per turn against attacks in the same column. That will work great if you line up with the Extra Monster Zone to get the most for your effect, but protection outside the strategy would’ve been nicer. Regardless, battle protection for one of your monsters is still good if you are dictating your opponents moves thanks to your other column monsters.

Play Bridgehead for the search, hope you can benefit from the potential battle protection.

Every archetype needs a Field Spell, and S-Force got theirs with Bridgehead.

Bridgehead is a Field Spell that on activation lets you add an S-Force monster from Deck to hand, cause all Field Spells have to search their archetype these days it seems. Either way, consistency is key for any good archetype, so the archetype getting 2 searchers with Gravitino searching any S-Force card and this getting to your monsters should help you see what you need, most likely Rappa Chiyomaru. When an opponent’s monster declares an attack on an S-Force monster in the same column, you can make your monster unable to be destroyed in that battle, so some synergy with Rappa’s column effect but again you likely aren’t keeping her on field for long. I guess if you already used the effect of Rappa and summon another off something like Reinforce Truth, you get help keeping her a bit longer. Either way, you can only use this effect of Bridgehead once per turn, so your field isn’t completely invincible, and you can only activate 1 Bridgehad per turn, so you aren’t searching too much. Overall the card is fine, mainly because it searches every monster in the archetype, but the battle protection being the only other effect is kind of underwhelming, but I guess you take what you get after a free search. It’s still a card you max out on.

S-Force Bridgehead is a Field Magic for this Theme.  Field Magics have come a long way from the ancient days of Yugioh.  They tend to be better cards are more regularly good enough to actually use in your Deck.  So a free Theme Monster from your Deck to your Hand is upon activation is great.  Two awesome things here.  The part being based on activation instead of resolution all but guarantees the card coming to your Hand.  The column effect here is once per turn but prevents your Monster from being destroyed by Battle.  Simple enough but the choice falling to the player as to when, or at all, use the effect I really appreciate.  The free Monster is more beneficial I feel and this may not make it a focal point for the Theme but stop good.
