Psychic Bounder
– #LED7-EN032

If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can add 1 “Jinzo” or 1 Spell/Trap that specifically lists that card in its text, from your Deck to your hand. When another monster you control is attacked by an opponent’s monster, before damage calculation: You can destroy both the attacking monster and this card. You can only use each effect of “Psychic Bounder” once per turn.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Psychic Bounder is a retrain of the original Reflect Bounder and our start to the Jinzo-based support this week.

Same stats as its predecessor, but Psychic Bounder works best in the Jinzo strategy as it gives you a spell/trap search for “Jinzo”. Six total targets for Psychic Bounder to choose from, all spells so far, most involve Jinzo needing to be on the field. Law of The Cosmos will get you to Jinzo, while the others are more cards to benefit Jinzo. 1-for-1 trade when a monster attacks another monster other than Psychic Bounder is an even trade. Reflect Bounder would deal LP damage, but did not destroy the monster unless the monster was equal or weaker than it (I crashed Magician of Faith into it long ago to get rid of it). Psychic Bounder without needing an effect forces your opponent to deal with it first before dealing with your other monsters, and will force a response or get you a 1-for-1. Combine that with it getting you a search on either its Normal or Special Summon each turn, and you have a pretty good monster for the archetype.

And now we get to the Jinzo support to wrap up Legendary Duelists and we start with a retrain of the classic Reflect Bounder as it now becomes Psychic Bounder.

Psychic Bounder is a Level 4 LIGHT Machine with 1700 ATK and 1000 DEF. Overall the stats are fine, LIGHT is a good Attribute, and Machine is a good Type even if it’d seem like this would of been Psychic. So upon Normal or Special Summon you get to search for a Jinzo or a Spell/Trap that lists Jinzo in the text from the Deck to the hand, so instantly we can get to most of the Jinzo support with great ease and even get to the original Jinzo if you need. It’d be nice if it searched any Jinzo Monster, but that isn’t the worst thing in the world when you got all the Spell/Trap support to make up for it. The second effect is when another Monster you control is attacked by an opponent’s Monster, then before Damage Calculation you can destroy the opponent’s Monster and this card. Nice little throwback similar to Reflect Bounder, no burn but easy destruction when any of your Monsters are attacked, not just this. Your opponent could get around this with Monsters that can’t be destroyed by effects, but that’s not on every Monster of course. Each effect here is a hard once per turn, which is something we see as a standard in 2020. Psychic Bounder is solid support for the Jinzo theme to turn the Deck into a proper strategy, it’s one you’d probably max out on.

Here we are on December Eve, in a Jinzo themed week, and Alex is all about it.  Reflect…I mean Psychic Bounder is everything Reflect Bounder is stat wise.  Same Type and Attribute as well.  This card supports Jinzo initially, where a Normal or Special Summon of this nets you a Jinzo (or Magic/Trap specifically listing said card in its text) from your Deck to your Hand.  Free +1s upon Summons are always a great thing, and if you Special Summoned this, you still have your Normal Summon available, so you can drop Jinzo that turn.  I mean, assuming you Special Summoned it on your turn.  The second effect is a mutual destruction effect where, as opposed do a built in Magic Cylinder as Reflect has, Psychic here lets you destroy this Monster as well as the opponent’s attacking Monster.  The best part here is said effect can be used when ANY of your Monsters is attacked too, as long as it’s not during Damage Calculation.  This is solid Jinzo support, as well as an improvement over the original Reflect Bounder.

Rating:  3.5/5

Art:  4/5  I do really like the art, the green and swirls and all in the background have a nice Psychic vibe to it as well.
