Predaplant Verte Anaconda – #DUOV-EN021

2 Effect Monsters You can target 1 face-up monster on the field; it becomes DARK until the end of this turn. You can pay 2000 LP and send 1 “Fusion” or “Polymerization” Normal or Quick-Play Spell from your Deck to the GY; this effect becomes that Spell’s effect when that card is activated, also, you cannot Special Summon monsters for the rest of this turn. You can only use each effect of “Predaplant Verte Anaconda” once per turn.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Predaplant Verte Anaconda was a give in for the countdown, this card almost single-handily ruined Yu-Gi-Oh this year.

Any two effect monsters can make this Plant, and while it is great in its own archetype, it has been made everywhere else as well, which it being a Plant makes sense: it’s like a weed, popping up everywhere. The making a monster DARK until the end of the turn will help certain decks with Super Poly shenanigans, but its true reason for being everywhere is that effect to fish out a Fusion or Poly Normal or Quick-Play. 2000LP is nothing, especially turn zero. While Instant Fusion and Super Poly are great targets, everywhere everyone went for Red-Eyes Fusion to drop the king: Red Eyes Dark Dragoon. You get locked out of Special Summoning for the rest of the turn, but this was the end of the turn for you. Yes, you have to deal with Verte only having 500ATK and being an OTK target, but many were okay with that.

An easy monster to summon that gives you access to the best card in the game? Yeah, this card should’ve been banned. It is good for Predaplants, but they have a variety of Fusion cards and can use Super Poly and Poly as well. The game didn’t need this monster to give them access to any Fusion or Poly card, it’s broken.

Number 7 gives us a great generic Link for anything using Fusions, despite it being designed for Predaplants, or it could of been intentionally generic. From Duel Overload, we have Predaplant Verte Anaconda.

Verte Anaconda is a Link-2 DARK Plant with 500 ATK and arrows pointing Bottom Left and Bottom Right. ATK is very low on a Link-2, but DARK and Plant are nice and the arrows are great. You can target a face-up Monster on the field and make it DARK until the end of the turn, which works with Predaplants I guess to summon Starving Venom Fusion Dragon or ay Predaplant Fusion that needs a DARK, which is good with Super Polymerization once this targeted an opponent’s Monster. The second effect lets you pay 2000 LP to send a Fusion or Polymerization Spell from Deck to the graveyard to gain the card’s effect, but you cannot Special Summon for the rest of the turn. Pretty great to get a Poly/Fusion effect without having to hard draw it and ignore the downsides of said card since this just gives you the effect. Use Super Polymerization and you don’t have to discard or use Red-Eyes Fusion and the Fusion doesn’t have to be your only summon, which are probably your most relevant summons. It was good with Neos Fusion to get to Rainbow Neos until Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon came out and you swapped the Rainbow Neos bricks for Dark Dragoon bricks. It’s an easy combo for anything that can put 2 Effect Monsters on field, despite the need for bricks. All the effects are a hard once per turn, which seems redundant when it locks your Special Summon after the Fusion is successful, but overall it’s a great card. Anything using Fusions could make great use of this card easy to tutor their Fusion Spells from Deck.

Art: 3.5/5 It’s a grass snake, I’ve seen more interesting Predaplant art.

Look, another Link card!  While not as big or impressive as yesterday, P.V.A. for short, is a Link 2, Dark/Plant, with 500 attack, whose arrows point to the respective bottom diagonals.  Link Summoning here requires any 2 Effect Monsters.  The effects here are fun and simple, and obviously to help assist you in your Fusions in the Predaplant or even just varying Plant hybrids.  You can Target a face-up Monster on the Field and make it Dark.  This, again, should help in whatever build you’re using especially Fusions specifically regulating at least one Dark Material for it.  Paying 2000 Lifpoints as well as a Fusion or Poly card from your Deck to your Grave lets you have this card mimic that effect.  A bit of price Lifepoint wise, which means the later you get this in the game, the less likely you should be able to take advantage of this.  But it’s nice to have a Fusion mechanic where you don’t need to outright Draw into the card itself.  No Special Summoning for the Turn after you use this effect, I guess to prevent flooding your board, but given the cost involved, it doesn’t seem entirely necessary to me.  A solid enough card though good for many Plant builds.

Rating:  4/5

Art:  3.25/5  It is what it is.  This isn’t boring but there’s nothing particularly remarkable about it either.
