Hello Pojo Fans,

Predaplant Dragostapelia is the Throwback Thursday choice for this week, even though we could’ve chosen from a good bunch of Predplant cards, this one is a good one.

Needing a Fusion monster of any kind and any DARK monster, this fusion is pretty easy. Instant Fusion Ambulomelides and then summon any Predaplant and you have your materials for the Fusion Summon. Ophrys Scorpio and Darlingtonia Cobra are the classic combo to get two Predaplant monsters on the field as well as a Fusion Spell to your hand for setting up this Fusion Summon. You may not even need a DARK on your side of the field or in your hand if you have Chlamydosundew helping to use your opponent’s monsters with Predator Counters on them as DARK monsters.

Dragostapelia being able to place a Predator Counter on a monster each turn as a Quick Effect rolls into its ability to lock down monsters with Predator Counters on them from activating their effects as well as stopping Continuous Effects: Dragostapelia is a Skill Drain. With 2700ATK it is a pretty good attack on the level of a boss monster for many decks, and is splashable in many archetypes. Placing a Predator Counter on a monster can also set up tomorrow’s CoTD as well as monsters within the archetype that Special Summon themselves by tributing a monster with a Predator Counter on them (four monsters).

Dragostapelia holds its own as a monster within the Predaplant archetype as well as outside it. It can lockout and lockdown monsters on its own as well as cause some Xyz problems for your opponent, and further the use of Predator Counters within the archetype.

Throwback Thursday this week brings us to one of the Predaplant Fusion bosses that is actually a decent Super Poly target: Predaplant Dragostapelia.

Dragostapelia is a Level 8 DARK Plant Fusion with 2700 ATK and 1900 DEF. Good ATK and DEF, plus DARK Plant again. Materials are a Fusion Monster and a DARK monster, so good against Fusion Decks using DARK monsters. The lone effect on this is a Quick Effect and a soft once per turn, letting you target a face-up monster the opponent controls and place a Predator Counter on it, with monsters with Levels becoming Level 1 if they have the Counter and the activated effects of the opponent’s monsters with Predator Counters being negated. So another good way to spread Predator Counters while also giving more value to them by shutting down the effects of the opponent’s monsters. The Level change alone was already pretty nice, as it’s harder to make certain Extra Deck plays with only Level 1s, but the negation is a great extra. It makes your other cards that spread Predator Counters better as well as that’s more monsters you can negate the activated effects of. Dragostapelia is a great card for Fusion strategies, whether you Fusion Summon it with your own cards or the opponent’s.

Throwback Thursday gives us a look at another Predaplant Fusion; this time being Dragostapelia.  Level 8, Dark/Plant, 2700 atk (I prefer 2800) and 1900 def, also a bit low there.  Fusion requirements are openly specific needing any Fusion Monster and any Dark Monster.  So you have lots of options for this guy, and honestly, this guy can work outside the Theme as well.  A Once per Turn Quick Effect lets you Target and put a Predator Counter on a face-up opponent’s Monster.  As we saw earlier this week, said Monster becomes Level 1 if it’s Level was 2 or higher as long as it has at least 1 Predator Counter on it.  A nice negation of your opponent’s activated Effect(s) for each card they control with a Predator Counter is great too.  As said, this guy definitely can work outside Predaplant, and with a soft protection, Level Manipulation, and a fair 2700 atk, all while being easy enough to bring out, we’ve got a winner here.

Rating:  4.5/5

Art:  Geesh, seen this on the come down before, and it remains rather fearsome.  The body is Dragon-esque, as indicated in the name, I suppose, and the clear plant tail and lizard(?) legs, yeah…but there is a certain coolness to this picture.  4/5

Throwback Thursday gives us a card that’s quite relevant and will likely be even more relevant in the near future, Predaplant Dragostapelia, a level 8 DARK Plant Fusion monster. Its fusion materials are any Fusion monster and any DARK monster, which isn’t particularly difficult in Despia and Predaplant decks (as well as a third deck we’ll discuss when we get it in TCG), but it is fairly difficult to bring out if you don’t have a combo in mind. 2700 attack is a tad low but perfectly fine, while 1900 defense is very middling, so it’s up to personal taste whether you’ll want to put it in defense to dodge Lightning Storm.

Dragostapelia’s sole activated effect is a soft once per turn Quick effect, allowing you to target a face-up monster your opponent controls and place a Predator Counter on it, and if it’s level 2 or higher, having a Predator Counter will reduce it to a level 1 monster. Additionally, Dragostapelia negates the activated effects of your opponent’s monsters with Predator Counters, so while floodgates and other continuous effects will still work, Dragostapelia can essentially still function as Quick monster negation. The level drop can be devastating against Synchro and Xyz decks as well, so it might be even better than Predaplant Triphyoverutum in some matchups. Dragostapelia is currently seeing a lot of play in Branded Despia decks, especially Predaplant builds, since Branded Fusion can easily make it in case you don’t need to summon Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon. When we get Power of the Elements, an upcoming archetype will also make use of Dragostapelia, so it’s both a great card and a card to watch out for in the future. Plus, it’s a great Super Polymerization target too!

Advanced: 4.5/5

Art: 4/5 The legs feel a little weird, but the rest of it is pretty cool and scary, much like other Predaplants.
