Rotom is one of the weirdest additions to Pokémon games I’ve ever seen. It is an electric ghost which is cool and we celebrate Platinum’s release in Japan by reviewing this Pokémon that also earned some pretty cool new forms, as Giratina and Shaymin before it. We still don’t know al the details on these new forms but today we are reviewing the classical form, we’ll let you know once we get more information about the alternate forms.

This Rotom has average stats, some of them below average and actually pretty bad, but it has some surprises under the sleeve, so let’s find them…

The movesets for today are…

Special sweeper.
Rotom@Salac berry.
Nature: Timid (+ Speed, - Attack), Modest (+ Special attack, - Attack).
EV’s: 252 Special attack / 252 Speed / 6 HP.
- Thunderbolt / Discharge / Thunder
- Shadow ball / Eerie wind / Rain dance
- Thunder wave / Will-o-wisp
- Endure

I don’t really like rain dance but it is one way to give you more confidence about your thunder. It is fast enough to use endure and let the berry activate, and has the STAB moves you need. It is a pretty easy set to use.

Rotom@Choice specs / Choice scarf.
Nature: Timid (+ Speed, - Attack), Modest (+ Special attack, - Attack).
EV’s: 252 Special attack / 252 Speed / 6 HP.
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow ball / Eerie wind
- Trick
- HP water or grass

Thanks to its immunity to normal, ground and fighting types, you can switch and do your trick, literally… Be very careful, you are giving a choice item and it could destroy you, remember Rotom has low stats.

Rotom@Focus sash.
Nature: Timid (+ Speed, - Attack).
EV’s: 252 Special attack / 252 Speed / 6 HP.
- Thunder
- Rain dance
- Shadow ball
- Light screen / Reflect

Used in double battles to give you a couple good moves while your other Pokémon attacks as much as possible.

Its type combination is great, and the supporter set is actually pretty useful despite of its low stats. Its immunities are also those little things that may actually save your life for a couple turns, and if Nintendo’s plan goes well, it will become a very popular Pokémon the next months.

Strong fire, ice, rock and dark attacks of some common sweepers will be enough to take it out, sorry I’m not being very specific today, but most sweepers can take it out easily.

Bottom line.

With Platinum out, news have been a constant these days. We’ll be waiting its arrival to America, thank you all for reading…

Hope you enjoyed.
