Deoxys

Date Reviewed: 09.11.07

Ratings & Reviews Summary: 4.50

Ratings are based on a 1 to 5 scale.
1 being the worst.  3 ... average.  5 is the highest rating.

Reeve Deoxys.
# 336.
Type: Psychic.
Ability: Pressure.
Locations: Transfer from GBA (Diamond, Pearl), Birth Island (Sapphire, Ruby, Emerald).

Hi everyone. Welcome to another Pokémon of the Week. Today we’re reviewing Deoxys, the DNA Pokémon.

Deoxys is truly one of my favorite Pokémon ever. Seriously, I have trained like a dozen so far. I have almost every set I can think of and all of them are fun to play. Its changing stats give the trainer a whole new set of possibilities, and being a Legend, it is pretty easy to use and just as powerful as Mewtwo. I don’t have to say all of its stats are good and bad depending on the condition right?

Pressure is good enough if you are using defense Deoxys, and it is decent using the remaining sets…

Let’s move on to the move combinations, let’s see what’s up with this guy…

SPEED FORM.
Deoxys.
Nature: Timid (+ Speed, - Attack).
Equip: Choice scarf.
EV´s: 252 Special attack, 252 Speed, 6 HP.
- Psychic
- Focus blast
- Hyper beam / Ice beam
- Shadow ball / Energy ball / Flash cannon

You will be a lot faster than Gengar, Aerodactyl and Jolteon, Just sweep; this is a pretty simple and easy set to use. As a matter of fact is somehow the favorite set for a lot of people.

Deoxys.
Nature: Hasty (+ Speed, - Defense).
Equip: Life orb.
EV´s: 252 Attack, 252 Special attack, 6 HP.
- Psychic
- Extremespeed
- Hyper beam / Ice beam
- Aerial ace

The mixed sweeper is a nice twist and a very mean surprise for your opponent. Face it, we all expect special sweepers, this is going to be a very cool surprise for your opponent, guaranteed.
DEFENSE FORM.
Deoxys.
Nature: Calm (+ Special defense, - Attack).
Equip: Leftovers.
EV´s: 252 HP, 129 Defense, 129 Special defense.
- Recover
- Cosmic power
- Counter / Mirror coat
- Toxic / Spikes / Night shade

Probably the best set out there. You will have a very hard time trying to beat this thing. Use cosmic power and recover as much as possible, I like the night shade / Mirror coat combo.

ATTACK FORM.
Deoxys.
Nature: Jolly (+ Speed, - Special attack).
Equip: Life orb.
EV´s: 252 Attack, 252 Speed, 6 HP.
- Avalanche
- Brick break
- Zen headbutt
- Rock slide / Aerial ace

Awesome set. Psychic physical sweepers are not that common see? And this one actually works.

Deoxys.
Nature: Hasty (+ Speed, - Defense).
Equip: Life orb.
EV´s: 128 Attack, 128 Special attack, 252 Speed.
- Shadow ball
- Brick break
- Psychic
- Rock slide / Aerial ace

Another mixed sweeper. I don’t think I have to explain that much…

Deoxys.
Nature: Timid (+ Speed, - Attack).
Equip: Life orb.
EV´s: 252 Special attack, 252 Speed, 6 HP.
- Psychic
- Thunderbolt / Grass knot
- Hyper beam / Ice beam
- Shadow ball / Focus blast

Finally we have the special sweeper, the main election for most trainers and the most predictable one too.

NORMAL FORM.
Deoxys.
Nature: Jolly (+ Speed, - Special attack).
Equip: Life orb.
EV´s: 252 Attack, 252 Speed, 6 HP.
- Avalanche
- Brick break
- Zen headbutt
- Rock slide / Aerial ace

Same as attack form, but with more balanced stats you will be safer, as it is a solid and safe set.

Deoxys.
Nature: Hasty (+ Speed, - Defense).
Equip: Life orb.
EV´s: 128 Attack, 128 Special attack, 252 Speed.
- Shadow ball
- Brick break
- Psychic
- Rock slide / Aerial ace

Normal mixed sweeper…

Deoxys.
Nature: Timid (+ Speed, - Attack).
Equip: Life orb.
EV´s: 252 Special attack, 252 Speed, 6 HP.
- Psychic
- Thunderbolt / Grass knot
- Hyper beam / Ice beam
- Shadow ball / Focus blast

And our special sweeper…

When should I use this Pokémon?
Well, technically you are capable of using it on almost every situation. It all depends on you. Use the defensive form as a very nice substitute for Forretress or Blissey, unfortunately most of you don’t use a defensive legendary, we all know attack is better, or is it not?. Use the speed form if you like your battles quick and painful. But I’d say use it as a mixed sweeper, just in case some Skarmory appears. Use the attack form as a mad kamikaze. Because you will hit hard, but one you get hit, you will faint in no time. Finally, use the normal form as a combination of all these, and as a substitute for the standard Mewtwo, it is weaker, but safer.

What should I use against this Pokémon?
Use a lot of PP waste moves, knock off and status conditions to take out the defense form, it is for sure the toughest of all. Use Tanks for normal and speed forms and you can use tanks or normal sweepers for the normal form.

Bottom line:
Deoxys has a special spot on my heart and my team, I love the surprise factor of it. When you mention you have a Deoxys or they find out, you are only revealing Ľ of the information to your opponent, and that is called strategy. It is not as predictable as you might think.

Rating:
4.8/5 (I’d go for the 5, but there is not such thing as the perfect Pokémon)

Hope you enjoyed.
Reeve.
Carbunkle Finally, I have wanted to review this for so long, but I forgot, it has 4
different forms so it will be more of a challenge now.
And yes, I will do all 4 forms for it so don't worry.

Name: Deoxys
Ability: Pressure
Type: Psychic

Pressure is a good ability, making your enemy use 2 PP instead of 1.
All forms have same weaknesses which are Bug, Dark, Ghost.
From here I will take 1 form at a time.

Normal Form:
Nature: Modest (+S.Atk, -Atk)
Item: Salac Berry
EV's: 252 S.Atk, 252 Speed (Hp)

I have chosen to go with a Special Sweeper on this one.
Salac Berry to get more speed.

Attacks:
1) Psychic
2) Recover
3) Shadow Ball
4) Recycle

Attack Form:
Nature: Adamant (+Atk, -S.Atk)
Item: Salac Berry
EV's: 252 Atk, 252 Speed (Hp)

This form I have made a regular sweeper.

Attacks:
1) Extremespeed (from Speed Form)
2) Superpower
3) Zen Headbutt
4) Recover

Defense Form:
Nature: Bold (+Def, -Atk)
Item: Apicot Berry
EV's: 252 Def, 252 S.Def (Hp)

Apicot raises Def when low health.

Attacks:
1) Counter
2) Mirror Coat
3) Spikes/Stealth Rock
4) Recover

Another form of something called Wyanut/Wobbufet except this ones knows
Recover and Spikes/Stealth Rock.

Speed Form:
Nature: Hasty (+Speed, -Def)
Item: Salac Berry
EV's: 252 Speed, 252 S.Atk (Atk)

A fast Special Sweeper, and I mean FAST.

Attacks:
1) Psychic
2) Shadow Ball
3) Recycle
4) Recover

Same moveset as the Normal form but this one is the fastest in the game.

Both hard and easy to make this, only took time to make all forms.

Rating:
4/5

Everything has their flaws, even this one. But the Speed Form I would put
5/5 because it's Speed.
Same with Defense Form because it can have fun.

Over and Out

Nathan Hi, this is Nathan. Sorry I haven't been able to get a review out, but I have been really busy with school. So anyway, here we have Deoxys.
Let's take a look at the stats of the only 2 forms you should think about using: Attack, and Defense.

Deoxys
Psychic Type
Ability: Pressure (When this Pokémon is hit by a move, the opponent's PP lowers by 2 rather than 1)

Attack Form Base Stats:

HP: 50
Atk: 180
Def: 20
SpAtk: 180
SpDef: 20
Spd: 150

Defense Form Base Stats:

HP: 50
Atk: 70
Def: 160
SpAtk: 70
SpDef: 160
Spd: 90

Before I get to the movesets, let me just say that, under no circumstances (unless Speed Form becomes anything other than Uber (which is not going to happen)) should you use any form other than the two I just listed. Anyway, on to the sets!

Deoxys-Atk @ Life Orb
Spd: 252, and either max out one attacking stat or the other, or do a
129/129 split
Rash Nature (Def -, Spd +)
-Pick
-Any
-Four
-Attacks

Seriously, you can slap on any 4 attacking moves, and you have a viable moveset. Just be sure to adjust your EVs accordingly. I like Pursuit/Brick Break/Rock Slide/Thunder (Or Grass Knot if I feel
frisky)

Deoxys-Def @ Leftovers
HP: 252, Def: 129, SpDef: 129 (Seriously, I am horrible at spreading.) Chose one defense, and sacrifice one attacking stat -Knock Off/Thunder Wave/Stealth Rock -Spikes/Trick Room.
-Recover/Counter/Mirror Coat
-Snatch (for lulz)

Doexys has a good support movepool. Just pick 4 that seem to go together, and you have a pretty nice set.

Final Opinion: Deoxys-Atk can't take a hit worth ****, and Deoxys-Def is in an environment where it will most likely not survive very long either. In other words, there are, most times, better slots on your team. Like Scarfogre!

Overall: 3/5 for Atk
3.5/5 for Def

Looks: 4/5 (Pretty nice to look at)

Alex Bramham
Deoxys the space virus is quite possibly one of the most potent sweeping pokemon available. Its massive attack, special attack and speed allow for easy consistent damage. It can even pull off a trick with focus sash by surviving the hit to 1HP then using counter or mirror coat from its defensive form. Very difficult to counter, simply a powerful solid choice.
5/5
