Mew.

# 151.

Type: Psychic.

Ability: Synchronize.

Locations: Faraway Island (Emerald).

Hi everyone. Welcome to another Pokémon of the Week. Today we’re reviewing Mew, the new specie Pokémon.

Mew is one of those classics you never forget, everything, from the cry to that pink color reminds me that kick-ass Pokémon that can learn every single move in all Pokémon history… It has pretty good stats, hands down, it’s the best “mini legendary” as I like to call them (Serebii and Jirachi are in this category).

Synchronize is great for those toxic users or some electric types with thunder wave, most of the times your opponent will be forced to switch because of this ability.

There are many move combinations for this one don’t you think? It is capable of many things, being great in almost every strategy, it is a great addition to any team but unfortunately not many tournaments will allow you to enter it…

Mew.

Nature: Mild (+ Special attack, - Defense).

Equip: Salac berry.

EV´s: 252 Special attack, 252 Speed, 6 HP.

- Psychic

- Ice beam

- Calm mind

- Thunderbolt

Some might want to use recover or soft-boiled instead of ice beam or thunderbolt, you are free to do it, it is just as effective as this special sweeper.

Mew.

Nature: Jolly (+ Speed, - Special attack).

Equip: Salac berry.

EV´s: 252 Attack, 252 Speed, 6 HP.

- Bulk up

- Brick break

- Earthquake

- Shadow ball

Insert return if you don’t like shadow ball. The physical sweeper is tremendous, amazingly good for a psychic type.

I could easily make another 3 move combinations, but I’ll let you be creative, Mew can be a subpuncher, a toxic user, a thunderdancer, a sunnybeamer, and you can pick any of your favorite moves and try them in Mew. It was one of my best Pokémon 10 years ago, and it is still one of the greatest for me.

When should I use this Pokémon?

If you were lucky enough to get one for your emerald version, train it with caution and think what you are going to do with it. It is a priceless Pokémon, use it whenever you can, it’ll give you great results…

What should I use against this Pokémon?

Your best shot are dark types; however try fast dark types along with some status condition, sacrifices must be done to finish this one. Wobbuffet works as well…

Bottom line:

With Pokémon Diamond and Pearl there are some new and fresh possibilities for this one, however I’ll give you time to get used to new attacks and battle modes. Someday we will review this one for the new generation.

Oh yeah, I have a Pokémon Diamond Friend Code now. I haven’t played a lot because of college but I’ll be happy to trade version exclusives or some other Pokémon you might be interested in with you. If you want my number please Send me an e-mail with yours to reeve.ryu@gmail.com As soon as I can import my GBA Pokémon to Diamond, I’ll be trading some pretty good Pokémon; legendaries, starters, Feebas, eevees and stuff like that. Thanks and see you on Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

Rating:

4.8/5

Hope you enjoyed.

Reeve.
