Golem.

# 076.

Type: Rock / Ground.

Ability: Rock head / Sturdy.

Locations: Evolve Graveler.

Hi everyone. Welcome to another Pokémon of the Week. Today we’re reviewing Golem, the rock Pokémon.

Golem was great once, however today we all have water, fighting, ground or grass types in our team so this one is almost a dead body from the beginning. It is slow and has not so good defenses so you are two options with this one; brute force or don’t even bother…

Talking about brute force, rock head is great if you are going to use double edge. But it’s not the greatest advantage ever.

Let’s move on to the move combinations I’ll start for combinations for the GBA and then combinations for the new DP games…

GBA.

Golem.

Nature: Adamant (+ Attack, - Special attack).

Equip: Choice band.

EV´s: 252 Attack, 129 Defense, 129 HP.

- Focus punch

- Rock slide

- Earthquake

- Explosion

As you might know, choice band is a very important item for the hit and go strategy. Remember, hit and switch if you are facing a type disadvantage. Focus punch is there just for surprising switching foes. Explosion has always been a very good finishing move.

Substitute is always a good option. To give Golem some time, keep the set but change earthquake or explosion for substitute.

DP.

First of all, remember the physical / special attack consideration has changed for DP, so some of our reviews have to change as well to fit the new criteria.

Golem.

Nature: Adamant (+ Attack, - Special attack).

Equip: Choice band.

EV´s: 252 Attack, 129 Defense, 129 HP.

- Focus punch

- Stone edge

- Earthquake

- Explosion

Stone edge gives Golem a little more power, but I think that’s not enough.

When should I use this Pokémon?

I thin you shouldn’t. Even Rampardos is better then this one. Let’s not talk about Rhyperior

What should I use against this Pokémon?

Almost anything will kill this guy; Gyarados is your best choice because of the earthquake immunity. Lucario is very popular and effective against Golem.

Bottom line:

Sorry, this guy is not your guy. It is decent for in game uses, but in competitive play this one has no chance.

Remember, If you have DP versions and want my number please Send me an e-mail with yours to reeve.ryu@gmail.com I’ll be trading some pretty good Pokémon; legendaries, starters and stuff like that. Thanks and see you on Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

Rating:

2/5

Hope you enjoyed.

Carbunkle Another Week, another Pokemon.
Know that I didn't review last week, to much school...

This week it is a rock hard pokemon.

Name: Golem
Ability: Rock Head
Nature: Adamant (+Attack, -Sp. Attack)
Item: Leftovers
EV: Str. 252 Hp. 252 (Speed. 252)

Ability makes sure we can use recoil damaged attacks without it hurting us.
The nature and the EV's is good for making him strong and sturdy.
More Attack, the funnier it will get.
Leftovers is to make sure if he gets hit he will be restored.
Although he is Rock and Ground which will make him weak against grass, ice
and water it will be fun.

Attacks:
1) Double-Edge
2) Substitute
3) Double Team
4) Explosion

Well, first of Substitute, with his Hp it will survive.
The start Double Teaming while the substitute is out, this will make sure
Golem survives.
When used 5-6 Double Teams, attack with Double-Edge, don't be affraid to use
it, no re-coil ;)
If the enemy gets Golems Hp down to almost nothing, it's time for your last
line of 'defense'.
Show them what Accept sang in TNT, that you are gonna EXPLODE!!!!

Sure, not strong but funny.

2,5/5

Oh yeah, just for a notice, when Diamond/Pearl releases here in Europe I
will be starting to put my ID-number here, and if you need a Feebas then
just contact me.

Over and out!

James Golem
#76
Type: Rock, Ground
Ability(s): Rock Head, Sturdy
Locations: Evolve Graveler (Trade)

Today we are reviewing the rock Pokémon, Golem.

Golem is a slow boulder with decent attack and high defense. In all games, Geodudes are found fairly early in the game, and are useful throughout.
But, is Golem useful in link battles as well? The answer is, yes.

With that said, here are some battle strategies for Golem

Golem
Nature: Adamant (+attack, -special attack)
EV’s: 252 attack, 252 defense, 6 hp
Ability: Sturdy
Equip: Wide Lens
-Earthquake (Lvl 33, TM 26)
-Rock Slide (Egg, TM 80)
-Hammer Arm (Egg)
-Explosion (Lvl 38, TM 64)

This is not a sweeper. The wide lens is to increase the accuracy of Golem’s moves. Explode when near death.

Golem
Nature: Adamant (+attack, -special attack)
EV’s: 252 attack, 252 defense, 6 hp
Ability: Rock Head
Equip: Leftovers or Liechi Berry
-Earthquake (Lvl 33, TM 26)
-Double Edge (Lvl 44)
-Gyro Ball (TM 74)
-Explosion (Lvl 38, TM 64)

Same as above.

Bottom Line: Golem is slow, but powerful. Just keep away from water, and grass.
