Reeve Dugtrio.
# 051.
Type: Ground.
Ability: Sand Veil / Arena trap.
Locations: Diglett Cave (FireRed, LeafGreen), Snag from Cipher Peon Stron (XD).

Hi everyone. Welcome to another Pokémon of the Week. Today we’re reviewing Dugtrio, the mole Pokémon.

Si, I turned 20 last Saturday and I can’t think of a better Pokémon to celebrate. I have a lot of memories of this guy. Back in Blue Version I was training my Wartortle in Diglett’s Cave, so yeah, I found many of these guys and thanks to them the third Gym Leader was a piece of cake…

Dugtrio is one of the most used Pokémon out there. It has a very good speed and attacks that go along with it. Unfortunately it has low HP and defenses so you have to protect him very well or is going to be useless.

Sand Veil is nothing to worry about, the true reason to use Dugtrio is Arena Trap, it prevents switching (unless they’re flying or with levitate ability). This means that, if used correctly, Dugtrio is going to give you one or two free kills, as sweet as that.

Let’s analyze two move combinations today, the classic sweeper and something a little bit more creative…

Dugtrio.
Nature: Jolly (+ Speed, - Special attack).
Equip: Choice Band / Lum Berry.
EV´s: 252 Speed, 252 Attack, 6 Defense.
- Earthquake
- Aerial Ace
- Rock Slide
- HP Ghost / Flying

This set +Arena Trap = Good Pokémon… Use the HP you like the most, both of them are good in specific circumstances. If you’re using the Bander, remember the good use of the switch.

Dugtrio.
Nature: Jolly (+ Speed, - Special attack).
Equip: Lum Berry.
EV´s: 252 Speed, 252 Attack, 6 Defense.
- Earthquake
- Protect
- Rock Slide
- Toxic

With this one, you’re sacrificing two incredibly good attacks, but in return, you get to make your foe suffer slowly. Toxic and Protect are going to help you against Wobbuffet and strong water types… At least they’ll give you some time.

When should I use this Pokémon?
Use it now, If you have tested Dugtrio’s potential you must be as sure as me this is one good and easy to use Pokémon, if you haven’t used it, try it, you won’t regret it…

What should I use against this Pokémon?
Some say Porygon2 is a good option; Suicune may blast this one with luck, a Curse Snorlax or a Belly Drummer Charizard.

Bottom line:
Fast, strong, three-headed, what else could you ask for?

Rating:
4.5/5

Hope you enjoyed.

Evolve Diglett (Lvl 26)

Today we are reviewing the mole Pokemon, Dugtrio.

Dugtrio is one of those Pokemon that are caught just to beat Lt. Surge. A closer look reveals that Dugtrio’s only real purpose is to beat Surge, then sit in the PC. Why?, some people ask. The question’s answer is simple:
Dugtrio has an amazing score in speed, but is mediocre in all other stats.

With that said, here are some battle strategies for Dugtrio:

Dugtrio
Nature: Adamant (+attack, -special attack)
EV’s: 252 speed, 252 attack, 6 hp
Ability: Arena Trap
Equip: Liechi Berry
-Earthquake (TM 26, Lvl 51)
-Toxic (TM 06)
-Rock Slide (Move Tutor, Egg Move)
-Double Team (TM 32)

Basic Physical Sweeper. Start with Double Team. Then Toxic. Then attack.

Dugtrio
Nature: Adamant (+attack, -special attack)
EV’s: 252 speed, 252 attack, 6 hp
Ability: Arena Trap
Equip: Liechi Berry
-Earthquake (TM 26, Lvl 51)
-Rock Slide (Move Tutor, Egg Move)
-Hidden Power (Ghost)(TM 10)
-Sludge Bomb (TM 36)

Same as above but with no defensive moves.

Bottom Line: Dugtrio is a terrible Pokemon overall. Just leave it in the PC and use Piloswine or Quagsire.

Rating:
1/5
