Leafeon.

# 470.

Type: Grass.

Ability: Leaf guard.

Locations: Evolve Eevee. (Diamond, Pearl).

Hi everyone. Welcome to another Pokémon of the Week. Today we’re reviewing Leafeon, the Verdant Pokémon.

I have very bad memories involving Eevee evolutions. I am a fan of them, but I had kind of a traumatic situation involving them. But I’m recovering little by little and I have a fully trained Eon team with a couple variants. So yeah, Leafeon is a nice addition to these evolutions. It has good physical attack, nice speed and defense. So we want to use it as a physical sweeper (Jolteon and Vaporeon can’t do this effectively).

Leaf guard is just awesome. All status problems are healed during sunlight, and that’s a huge advantage if you are competing in doubles or a drought team.

Let’s move on to the move combinations, let’s see what’s up with this guy…

Leafeon.

Nature: Jolly (+ Speed, - Special attack).

Equip: Salac berry.

EV´s: 252 Attack, 252 Speed, 6 Defense.

- Leaf blade

- Sunny day

- Endure

- Flail

It’s simple and effective; Use leaf blade and sunny day if you are going to be affected by status conditions. Then when you are about to die use endure, then sweep with flail and leaf blade as much as you can once the Salac berry is activated. Just be sure you know how to predict your fainting.

Leafeon.

Nature: Jolly (+ Speed, - Special attack).

Equip: Salac berry.

EV´s: 129 Attack, 252 Speed, 129 Defense.

- Leaf blade

- Aerial ace / X-scissor

- Yawn / Grasswhistle

- Substitute

Using substitute and wish is a very safe way to battle, Leaf blade is a must and aerial ace or x/scissor is up to you, depending on the types you think you are going to battle.

Leafeon.

Nature: Jolly (+ Speed, - Special attack).

Equip: Chesto berry / Lum berry.

EV´s: 252 Attack, 252 Speed, 6 HP.

- Leaf blade

- Aerial ace / X-scissor / Bite

- Yawn / Grasswhistle

- Wish / Rest

You want to use yawn in order to force switching, then you use wish or rest, and keep sweeping, it’s a simple and effective set, ideal for not so veteran trainers.

When should I use this Pokémon?

Leafeon might be one of those Pokémon you don’t face online too often, just because it is not as big or fast as other physical sweepers as Garchomp. As I said before, it is a nice addition to a sunlight team and for casual play. Use it competitively if you are trust your abilities enough.

What should I use against this Pokémon?

Leaf guard is a double edged weapon. If there is sunlight go on and attack Leafeon with all your fire power, literally. A powerful Fire blast will be fatal for this Pokémon. Fast flying types as Staraptor or Pidgeot are great.

Bottom line:

Eevee evolutions, you can never have enough of them…

Rating:

3.2/5
