Pojo's Pokemon of the Week

Lickitung

Date Reviewed: 12.16.06

Ratings & Reviews Summary: 1.5

Ratings are based on a 1 to 5 scale.
1 being the worst.  3 ... average.  5 is the highest rating.

Reeve Lickitung
# 108.
Type: Normal.
Ability: Oblivious / Own tempo.
Locations: Trade in route 18 (Firered, Leafgreen), Snag from Cipher Peon Gefta in citadark isle (XD).

Hi everyone. Welcome to another Pokémon of the Week. Today we’re reviewing the long tongue Pokémon; Lickitung.

Lickitung is a pretty bad Pokémon. It is a normal type obtained by trading or snagging, its HP is the only average stat. everything else is below average…

I have to admit it has useful abilities. I prefer own tempo as the attract strategies aren’t that popular.

So, there are a couple strategies for this one but none of them are very effective. You could make a substi-puncher or even a belly drummer, but they are not enough. I’ll show you a combination to make some time.

Lickitung.
Nature: Adamant (+ Attack, - Special attack).
Equip: Leftovers.
EV´s: 252 Attack, 252 HP, 6 Defense.
- Substitute
- Return
- Shadow ball
- Thunder wave

If you get hit you are dead. So use substitute, then thunder wave and return to make some good damage. Shadow ball is for ghosts. My suggestion is: Paralyze and switch. Use Lickitung as your last Pokémon because it will die soon anyway. It is better if you save thunder wave for later…

When should I use this Pokémon?
Never. If you really want to give it a try then don’t use it in serious tournaments. It is an underused Pokémon and that’s because it is bad, believe me.

What should I use against this Pokémon?
Even a good heal beller can take out the strategy. Anything with brick break will defeat Lickitung.

Bottom line:
Very bad… Let’s hope its evolution is somehow a little better.

Rating:
1.5/5

Hope you enjoyed.
Reeve.

Razor Ramon Lickitung #108
Type: Normal
Location: Trade Slowbro in Route 18 Gate(Leafgreen), Trade Golduck in Route 18 Gate(Firered)

Domo!!! Razor Ramon desu!!! Okaaaaaaaaay!! (*pelvic thrusts*)

Yes welcome to this special week of Pokemon GBA of the week. To start off my first review of my Pojo career, I want to say thank you to wartortle23(former yugioh writer) for introducing me to this wonderful site. Alright back to the review.

Lickitung has not always been my favorite pokemon. Its probably one of the most vulgar pokemon in the game (next to Jynx). I swear if some guy told me to train his Lickitung, I’d smack him very hard. But hey let’s look at this pokemon in a more optimistic point of view.

Licky here is your tank. His special defense and defense stats are his strong point but his atk and def are a joke. If you want something going for this guy, I suggest a staller Licky. Here’s my number set for him

Nature: Bold (+def, -atk)
Item: Leftovers
Moveset:
Seismic toss
Toxic
Rest
Sleep Talk

This one is plain and simple. Rest when necessary and Sleep Talk when you do. Seismic toss will deal the decent damage while Toxic just drains the life out of them. Licky here has a weakness to fighting so adding on the extra defense will help. Although its pretty slow, it should last at least survive 1 Sky uppercut from Blazikien or a Breloom. Just don’t count on it striking back. If you don’t like Leftovers, replace it with Salac berry because most likely the 1 super effective attack while take Licky to the red zone.

This next set is kinda not my way of going but if you want to start sweeping with this guy, be my guest. This was inspired by the Battle Factory pokemon and it is ok I suppose

Nature: Adamant(+atk, -special atk)
Item: Salac Berry
Moveset:
Swagger
Psych Up
Shadow Ball
Earthquake

Swagger the foe first. Then Psych Up and start sweeping with appropriate moves. I only suggest this combo if you are facing special sweepers not physical sweepers because sometimes the opponent might be smart and have their sweepers hold Persim berries or Lum berries. That’ll screw you over.

Overall:
1.5/5 , I don’t like what they did with this pokemon at all. In the show they made its first appearance look good but after that, this pokemon became nothing more than pokedex fodder. At least when Diamond/Pearl comes out, we can see if it becomes worthy as Licky will have an evolution. Cool huh?

Well first review complete. I just hope we get cooler pokemon in the future xD. So from Osaka, I bid you happy hunting. HOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! (*pelvic thrusts*)
