Alex's Top 5 Energy cards for HP-on

The energy cards I think will have the biggest strategical impact next year:

Water Energy
The new Blastoise has an ability similar to the original from base set in letting you play down all of these energy from your hand! With Mantine's body of free retreat for water types, they could likely become a new archetype, so water energy is a solid foundation , considering the support of castaway and energy switch.

Special Darkness Energy
A pluspower in an energy card can charge some unexpected KOs, fuel Weavile's nasty plot or spread damage with Absol ex.

Double Rainbow Energy
For any deck that can develop evolutions quickly, double rainbow will continue to provide the speed and versatility required. Perfect for anything such as Infernape that has a discard, as you're discarding the negative effect too. It can even be used to retreat a pokémon quicker. What a card!

Multi Energy
Many attacks need only one coloured energy or a coloured plus uncoloured energy. With multi energy in your hand, you can ensure the cost can be paid. Examples include Weavile's Nasty Plot or Prinplup's aqua shower attacks.

Scramble Energy
A fantastic way to manipulate the game. If you use your pokémon in a way that would suggest you haev one of these in your hand, they may not KO your pokémon, giving you the perfect opportunity to power up. The ability to bounce back is second to none. With many cards in the new format that can win the game without needing to take prizes early, you can simply run your strategies with this.
