Zach’s Hot Decks (of 11/18/04)

==========================================================================

Hey readers of pojo! I’m Zach Reif, writer of Torney Reports here at pojo. I’m here to discuss the hot decks that will see play in all of this year’s major torneys. Below are all tested decks at strategy that are great, remember none of them are in an order, happy reading! J

==========================================================================

Monarchy (Nidoqueen and Nidoking)

The Nido family packs a powerful punch. Very consistent and fast.  Get 1-2 Kings and Queens up on the field at the same time and start doing massive damage for little energy, the pre evos are strong and get it themselves. Make sure to play Wurmple. Wurmple > Dunsparce in a deck with grass.

Zapdos EX

One of my favorite decks ever aside from the old sneasel/slowking deck. In this deck I would play Zapdos with SS Elekid and HL Voltorb. Get many energy out FAST with Voltorb and Elekid then swap in a Zapdos. By turn one, two, you can be dealing 50-70 damage! When your Zappy is low on HP super scoop it for another. I recommend throwing in a electrode ex and a hl electrode in case your dry on Zappy or a weakness counter.

Rain dance  (Blastoise EX/Magneton/Catty)

Good deck. Use Magneton as the main hitter but ‘toise can get it done also. Hurt a lot by Mt.Moon but can still hold. Fast but without a good setup, it’s just a good game.

Gengar EX-Byss

One of the top decks at the moment IMO. Depending on the start you can use either Gengar or Gorebyss as the main hitter. Get a Gengar EX on the bench and a Gorebyss in play. Start piling energy on to Gengar and Use Gorebyss’s main attack. DRE is VEEEEERY helpful in this deck.

Beedrill Swarm

This deck focuses on getting multiple Beedrill in play at a time. Though it can be played with combos (gorebyss might work nicely) the main point is have all of the Beedrill in play. Assume that you get all four of you Beedrill on the field, that could be a whooping 140 damage a turn for three energy!  When a Beedrill is knocked out bring it back with RG Raticate.

Dark Dragonite/Dark Electrode

A new deck but it has lots of potential. Very fast, gets tons of energy out quickly. The only thing that it will fear is the possible appearance of Togetic and his Holy Shield.

Team Magma

Wow. What a surprise it was at the 2004 Worlds eh? Who thought a deck no one in America used would come and sweep the worlds? No one. It is very simple. TM Groudon/Zangoose/Claydol/Camerupt. Very fast deck. When properly made it is all basics and stage one’s. Devastating. It will still be there this year but not as much of an impact. Watch out for the new power of Ledian (TRR).

Swampert/Suicune

EX. Very nice deck. Old but great, use the combo of both EX’s to dominate. Also use some watercall Swampys. Use watercall or reverse stream to get energy and pile them onto swampert ex. When you have 5 energy on swampert he is doing 100 damage a turn. With energy flip and crushing wave moving around energy and crushing wave making an OHKO everywhere you can win.

These are just some of the amazing decks that should dominate. Thanks for reading my tip!
