Target EXCLUSIVE Jakks pakks!
October 19, 2007

Big news for Pokemon toy enthusiasts today--Target EXCLUSIVE Jakks packaged toys have been hitting the shelf this week! The first two items I saw yesterday were playsets including figures that have been released in other forms either before or recently (note that the latest wave of Jakks figures, singles and 3-packs, hit my TRUs last week; this was the wave that promised Dialga, Palkia, etc.): Forest and Battle Arena. These 2 sets were in the price range around $17.99-$19.99 I believe; they were new so I'm not sure I caught a correct price... The Forest set included an exclusive Gengar and there was a Ponyta (or Rapidash?) and a Carnivine in that set. The other, Battle Arena, included a Pikachu and a Lucario among the 5 figures (both sets have 5 figures). The boxes are very decorative, with cardboard settings for the scene...

Now. Sorry about the sketchy details above. You see, the real focus of this day's trip was what I just spotted. *drum roll* TRAINER sets!!! $9.99. Not spotted on e-Bay *yet* (run, run, parents to the store NOW!)...

Ash and Starly
Ash and Aipom
Dawn and Buneary
Brock and Croagunk
Brock and Sudowoodo

This is AWESOME. Ash looks GREAT. Since I'm not in the toy loop of any big company exec., I am not aware of the trainer packs in other formats--didn't I see something about them, tho'? Maybe someone remembers... It would seem logical to see Ash packaged with Pikachu or Dawn with Piplup... so... Maybe, just maybe, when Target shows these exclusives, perhaps we'll see other trainer sets elsewhere-? While Target was slow to get the TFG, they really revived my faith with these great offerings this week. One of the local stores also has been restocking the latest wave of the mini plush, too; so, I managed to score the lovable but annoying Woooooobuffet! ;)

With all the offerings this year, will Santa have any room left in his bag? Will the Stantler need some extra berries to keep its health? (watch Pikachu's Christmas DVD, http://www.amazon.com/Pokemon-Pikachus-Winter-Vacation-Bonus/dp/B000JBXHBE/ref=sr_1_1/002-4814744-2567239?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1192818768&sr=1-1 to find out--hey, look, the Amazon pic shows a bonus Xmas music CD with this now!).

Pi Pikachu! Bun Buneary!!!
