Rocket Boss's Deck Fixes

Galactic Despair
March 4, 2009

Dear Rocket Boss,

I just started playing pokemon with the prerelease of StormFront. The deck that i have is based on Alakazam (power cancel) and dialga G lv X to stop my opponents from using almost everything. The stragedy is to get dialga G and use deafen to stop him from using trainers and stadiums while i build my alakazam on the bench to stop him from using powers. Im also using mesprit (LA) to stop powers also. cause i hate when my opponent drops a first turn uxie (setup). But my problem is setting up, cause by the time i do, my opponent already knocked my major key cards. If needed u can take anything out to make the deck run better. So PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RocketBoss pimp my deck.

Pokemon: 21

3-0-3 Alakazam (MT)

3-1 Dialga G lv X (PL)
4 Mesprit (LA)
1 Azelf LA)
2 Uxie (LA)
2-2 Claydol (GE)

Trainers/Supporters: 25

4 Rare Candy (DP)
4 Roseannes Research (SW)
4 Bebe Search (SW)
4 Energy Gain (PL)
1 Luxury Ball (SF)
2 Priemeir Ball (GE)
3 Level max (PL)
3 Dusk Ball (MT)

Energy: 14

5 psychic
9 metal

It's Rocket Boss, back to help another newcomer with his deck. This looks like a pretty good start to a pretty good setup, and it has lots of potential. There are two things that we're adding to this deck today, a good offense and the ability to keep shutting down in case the game runs long. With the Pokemon we're going to switch one Dialga G for another Dialga G Lv. X and remove all 4 Mesprit because you can only get the power when it gets played, and if you get Power Sprayed, it's null and void, and we're going to whittle down the Alakazam line because what I have in store for you is something that would be able to accomplish the same goal, only repeatedly and without discard, so minus 1/0/1 for your Alakazam line. Here comes the offense, plus 3 Skuntank G and 3 Toxicroak G. Skuntank G will be a bench sitter, using poison structure to setup for Toxicroak to hit for 60 damage (for a mere (p) if you have one of those Energy Gains on him... and you do, don't you?), plus the poison damage... ah, a match made in heaven... plus Toxicroak has a built in Unown G to save it from Machamp and other nasty side effects. In the Trainer region of the deck we can survive without the Dusk Ball (because of all the supporters), the Level Max (because it's flippy) and half the Rare Candy (Alakazam is the only thing that would ever need it) giving us 8 spaces. Those 8 spaces are easily filled with the new key to this deck, Galactic's Invention Power Spray, 4 of them to be exact, and in order for Skuntank to accomplish its Poison Structure we'll need some stadiums, 4 of them, Snowpoint Temple would fit this deck like a glove because of all of the basics running wild in it. Now we need room for that key to replay-ability, Marley's Request. The ability to get back either a Power Spray to shut them down again, or an Energy Gain to deal faster damage is great, even better by making them decide their own demise... (shifty grin), since you don't have too many evolutions, let's switch out 1 Bebe for 1 Marley, as long as Marley gets played at the right time, most likely later on in the game, you'll only need the one. I would also balance out the energy a bit more too, maybe go with 6 Psychic and 8 Metal, not much of a difference, but some times one of the wrong color could mean the game. This setup sounds kind of extensive, but it should definitely pay off running your deck like this:

Pokemon: 21

2-0-2 Alakazam (MT)
2-2 Dialga G lv X (PT)
3 Skuntank G (PT)
3 Toxicroak G (PT)
1 Azelf LA)
2 Uxie (LA)
2-2 Claydol (GE)

Trainers/Supporters: 25

4 Rare Candy (DP)
4 Roseanne's Research (SW)
3 Bebe Search (SW)
1 Marley's Request (SF)
4 Energy Gain (PT)
4 Power Spray (PT)
4 Snowpoint Temple (LA)
1 Luxury Ball (SF)
2 Premier Ball (GE)

Energy: 14

6 psychic
8 metal

There you have it Russ, a new twist on your shut down deck, Galactic Despair, utilizing the current cream of Team Galactic's crop to shut down PokePowers, PokeBodies and effects of attacks. Keep the fixes coming PokeGuys and PokeGirls, luvtank1287@yahoo.com is where you can find me, but until next time, Rocket Boss is Blasting off again!
