Rocket Boss's Deck Fixes

Psychic Deck Fix
March 16, 2009

Hey Rocket Boss! I’m rukario94 and I was wondering if you could do a deck fix for me?

Pokémon: x24

Dusknoir Lv. X (Stormfront) x2

Dusknoir (Stormfront, #17) x1

Dusknoir (Stormfront, #1) x1

Dusclops (Stormfront, #35) x1

Dusclops (Stormfront, #34) x1

Duskull (Stormfront, #59) x1

Duskull (SW, #86) x2

Gengar (Stormfront, #18) x2

Haunter (Stormfront, #40) x2

Gastly (Stormfront, #62) x3

Roserade (Stormfront, #23) x2

Roselia (Stormfront, #72) x3

Budew (Stormfront, #33) x3

Supporters: x7

Roseanne’s Research x3

Cynthia’s Feelings x2

Marley’s Request x2

Trainers: x13

Luxury Ball x2

Rare Candy x2

Great Ball x2

Poké Radar x2

Poké Healer + x2

Premier Ball x1

Potion x2

Energy: x16

Psychic Energy x16

Total: 60 cards

The basic strategy here is to use Roselia’s Petal Spikes attack to poison and make the defending pokemon sleepwith Budew underneath so it works every time no matter what, so I can power up Duskull up to at least Dusknoir, if not Dusknoir Lv. X. I use Gengar as a quick back-up since it only needs two energy to do its best attack.  Some problems I have though is getting Dusknoir out safely because by the time I get Dusknoir prepped to attack, my opponent already has a strong pokemon out and ready to swoop down and take Dusknoir out. What should I do? Is tere a way I can get Dusknoir out there fast so my opponent doesn't have time to get ready to defend his or herself? (This was my original strategy but if you look at this and can see an obvious strategy that would work better, you can put in and take out all the cards you need.)  This is a modified deck.

Should I put something in my deck to increase the amount of damage my pokemon deal out? A couple of times I’ve been ten damage away from knocking out a pokemon. Also, is there a way I can load up my opponents hand with trainers and supporters without them realizing that I’m going to use Gengar to deal out a lot of damage?

Thanks a lot!

Welcome once again to the deck garage of Rocket Boss! Rukario94 has a psychic deck for us to see today, there's a good strategy behind this deck, but as he stated it needs some speed, and it seems like it could us a little more balance, too.  One Lv. X should be enough, so we'll cut one of them out to add another Dusknoir with Shadow Command, this will help speed things up a bit.  If you can get your hands on them, the shiny Duskull would work best, its attacks work quite well to lead into Dusknoir and Dusknoir Lv. X so let's cut those in for the others.  In order to balance your evo. chains a little better let's remove one Gastly in favor of another Roserade because when you have so many big evo. chains in one deck you don't need to sacrifice bench space to a basic when the other stages are already used or discarded.  A good setup for almost any deck, let alone a psychic deck is Uxie, I'm sure many of us know why, but for those who don't, it has the Poke-Power Set Up, which lets you draw cards until your hand is up to 7 cards, so let's add 2 of them for good measure (I know, we're over 2 cards, but there will be space)..

The trainer/supporter/stadium section is going to get a complete overhaul, it'll look like this:

Roseanne’s Research x3

Cynthia’s Feelings x1

Prof. Oak's Visit x2

Bebe's Search x3

Luxury Ball x1

Rare Candy x3

Quick Ball x2

Miasma Valley x2

Premier Ball x1

Total: 18

Roseanne, Bebe and Oak will help you get running a bit faster, especially with Uxie.  Miasma will help you get that little bit of extra damage you were saying you needed, as long as the opponent isn't playing Psychic or Grass.  Quick Ball is more reliable than Poke Radar and with 3 stage 2 chains in this deck a little extra Rare Candy certainly couldn't hurt at all.  The energy looks to be a good number, so we'll leave that alone leaving us with a deck that looks like this:

Dusknoir Lv. X (Stormfront) x1

Dusknoir (Stormfront, #17) x1

Dusknoir (Stormfront, #1) x2

Dusclops (Stormfront, #35) x1

Dusclops (Stormfront, #34) x1

Duskull (SH2) x3

Gengar (Stormfront, #18) x2

Haunter (Stormfront, #40) x2

Gastly (Stormfront, #62) x2

Roserade (Stormfront, #23) x3

Roselia (Stormfront, #72) x3

Budew (Stormfront, #33) x3

Uxie (Legends Awakened) x2

Roseanne’s Research x3

Cynthia’s Feelings x1

Prof. Oak's Visit x2

Bebe's Search x3

Luxury Ball x1

Rare Candy x3

Quick Ball x2

Miasma Valley x2

Premier Ball x1

Psychic Energy x16

Total: 60

With a little more balance and a stronger set of supporter/trainer/stadiums for rukario94, Rocket Boss is Blasting off again!
