Rocket Boss's Deck Fixes

Ampharos
February 25, 2009

I've been playing around with this idea for a bit, and it has been moderately successful. It is built around the Platinum Ampharos and meant to shut down opposing powers. Problem is, I usually can't prize cards efficiently enough. I hope you can help.

Here is the list, with set in Brackets.

Pokemon: 21
3 Mareep (PT)
2 Flaaffy (PT)
2 Ampharos (PT)
1 Ampharos (SW)
2 Bronzor (SF)
2 Bronzong (MD)
2 Snover (SF)
2 Abomasnow (SF)
1 Duskull (SF 59/100)
1 Dusclops (SF 34/100)
1 Dusknoir (DP)
1 Chatot (MD)
1 Spiritomb (LA)

Trainers: 24
3 Rare Candy
3 Technical Machine TS-1 (Evoluter)
3 Bebe's Search
3 Cynthia's Feelings
2 Looker's Investigation
3 Roseanne's Research
2 Warp Point
2 Night Maintenance
1 Technical Machine TS-2 (Devoluter)

There it is. Thanks for any help you can give.

On to another deck review/fix with Rocket Boss!  This is another interesting archetype that has been seeing lots of interpretation lately.  With the Pokemon in this deck I would try to center the focus, Abomasnow isn't a bad direction to go, but centering the focus in a bit more wouldn't hurt, especially with a purely supporter/tm/trainer draw base.  I would suggest removing the Snover/Abomasnow, as well as the Chatot (I'll get to that shortly) and the Spiritomb (in my experience it's often a dead draw or a horrible starter).  You really should focus in on Dusknoir, stick with the DP version because you can't deny how hand the power is, and add in one of each version from SF, both powers are good to have, one adds draw power and the other will help spread to aid your Ampharos.  The Lv. X is also quite a good way to add to spreading the damage.

[-2 Snover - 2 Abomasnow - Chatot - Spiritomb + 2 Duskull + 2 Dusclops + 2 Dusknoir (previously listed) + 1 Dusknoir Lv. X]  As for trainers/supporters/stadiums Lake Boundary is a two way street, with one lane... I personally don't care for it, plus there is a much better stadium to play in this deck, Moonlight.  Cynthia's Feelings has a home in most decks, but may just get in the way in this one, so let's get rid of those to make the room for 3 Moonlight Stadiums, because free retreat is a Godsend when you've got psychic Pokemon.  With the energy lets swich around the Electric and Psychic because Ampharos can be totally effective from the bench and Dusknoir will take over as the main hitter plus let's just get rid of that water energy in favor of another psychic which will leave us with:
