#1Kingdra's Wash Away
October 15, 2008

Hello, welcome to another edition of my deck garage, today we have a deck that at first glance makes you think random. But when I took a closer look, it appeared to me one of the most intriguing decks I’ve ever seen! This thing can really hit hard if used right.

I wasn’t given a strategy, but I can assume that it is to start with Kingdra and constantly do damage with either attack. Once your Kingdras are nearly spent or if the battle is going badly, you will want to get all your energy back in your deck (with Kingdra’s “Aqua Stream”) and bring in an energy-less Rhyperior Lv. X to absolutely destroy with “Hard Crush”. Later in the game, there will be less cards in your deck, so when you do put all of that energy back in the deck, it will give you a much better chance to get energy to discard for the attack. Hard Crush also puts the energy back in the discard, so you can bring back Kingdra to use Aqua Stream. As you can see, this creates a vicious cycle. You know, like “I eat because I’m unhappy, and I’m unhappy because I eat…” It’s Austin Powers... I had to, just had to!

 Alright, let’s take a look:

------------------------------

Post: #1Kingda's Wash Away. (DP-on)

24 Pokemon:

4 Kingdra (Legends Awakened)

3 seadra (any)

4 Horsea (any)

2 Regice (Legends Awakened)

4 Rhydon (Diamond and Pearl)

3 Rhydon (Diamond and Pearl)

2 Rhyperior (Diamond and Pearl)

2 Rhyperior LV.X (Legends Awakened)

14 Trainers:

4 Felicity's Drawing

3 Premier Ball

3 Speed Stadium

4 rair candy

22 Engery:

18 Water

4 Multi Engery Or Rainbow Engery.

------------------------------

OK, so this deck is lacking the true drawing ability it needs to be able to pull off this strategy. In order to be consistent, a nice swarm of Kingdra is necessary and a benched Rhyperior Lv. X (for the right moment) is necessary. Also, it will be necessary to switch between the two, so we’ll need to address that. Let’s see what I can do:

Pokemon: We will not need four Kingdra because of the shared power with Rhyperior. Drop 1 Seadra and 1 Kingdra. Drop the 2 Regice. They are a good idea, but we can get by using Felicity and Kingdra’s second attack to discard energy (also, Rhyperior helps put energy back in the discard ;) ). Drop 2 Rhyhorn and 2 Rhydon. You will always want to start with either Horsea or Baltoy, so less Rhyhorn will increase the chances of that happening. You’ll probably only need 1 Rhyperior per game, so 4 Rhyhorn will definitely be overkill here. OK, in some of those places, add Claydol (3 Baltoy, 3 Claydol). Claydol will greatly increase your draw power and help you to get to more and more energy to put in the discard.

-1 Seadra

-1 Kingdra

-2 Regice

-2 Rhyhorn

-2 Rhydon

+3 Baltoy

+3 Claydol

Energy: In Kingdra, it may be advantageous to have a lot of energy, but we can probably get by with less than what you have. Take out 5 Water and the 4 Multi Energy. We won't need energy for Rhyperior, because we are using its free attack.

-5 Water Energy

-4 Multi Energy

Trainers: OK, we need a lot of help here. Keep in mind that we still have 11 spaces. Take out the 3 Speed Stadium (too luck-based) and 1 Premier Ball. Every deck should pretty much have 4 Bebe’s Search and 4 Roseanne’s Research, and this is no exception. Add one Cynthia’s Feelings, and combined with the original 4 Felicity’s Drawing, we have a good Supporter line. Add 2 each of Warp Point and Switch. These will help a lot in different situations: it will help switch between Rhyperior and Kingdra, especially since you don’t want any energy on Rhyperior (so you wouldn't have it for its ridiculous retreat cost of 4). In case you need stuff back from the dead (unlikely in this deck, but don’t ever doubt you will) add 2 Night Maintenance.

-3 Speed Stadium

-1 Premier Ball

+4 Bebe’s Search

+4 Roseanne’s Research

+1 Cynthia’s Feelings

+2 Warp Point

+2 Switch

+2 Night Maintenance

Alright, so here is the final decklist:

Pokemon (22)

4 Horsea (LA)

2 Seadra (LA)

3 Kingdra (LA)

3 Baltoy (GE)

3 Claydol (GE)

2 Rhyhorn (DP)

1 Rhydon (DP)

2 Rhyperior (DP)

2 Rhyperior LV.X (LA)

Trainers (25)

4 Rare Candy

4 Felicity's Drawing

4 Bebe’s Search

4 Roseanne’s Research

1 Cynthia’s Feelings

2 Warp Point

2 Switch

2 Premier Ball

2 Night Maintenance

Energy (13)

13 Water

I hope that this works out well for you. I’m seriously considering playing it myself, but I would still need 3 Kingdra and 2 Rhyperior Lv. X. Well that’s about it from me, if you have any questions, you know where to reach me.
