Cadet-Captain Mike

Name: Yggdrasil (Vikings)
Card: FN #019 (Common)
Points: 12
Masts: 1
Cargo: 2
Moves: L
Guns : 2L x2
Hit %: 133 (S), 133 (L)
Ability: Longship. Once per turn when this ship hits an enemy ship, also eliminate one crew from that ship.

Yggdrasil, in Norse mythology, is an immense tree that sits in the center of the cosmos. A one-masted ship is an odd choice to bear that name, especially a rather lackluster one.

Her cannon is good, but even doubled, it still isn't that much. Speed and cargo are low; you're pretty much limited to the basics of Captain and Helmsman for crew. She can serve as a support fighter to bigger ships, but one hit (or one ram) and she's done. 12 points is low for a longship, but high for one mast. One point more would buy you the Hlidskjalf, with an average cannon, a much more useful ability, and no need for a Helmsman.

Playing an all-Viking fleet is a hard way to win anyway, and all the other factions have support fighters that are better or cost less, or both. If you need a Viking crew killer, use the Huginn, a much better fighter that slays a crew when she rams. I can't recommend the Yggdrasil for very much.

Goldship rating: 2.1 / 5
Gun Ship rating: 2.6 / 5
Boarding rating: 1.8 / 5
Value for points: 2.8 / 5
