Name: Lepanto (Spain)

Card: FS #061 (Common)

Points: 14

Masts: 3

Cargo: 3

Moves: L

Guns : 3L,3L,3L

Hit %: 150 (S), 150 (L)

Ability: Galley. Once per turn, one of this ship’s cannons can shoot again if it misses.

The Lepanto is a fine-looking Spanish galley, named for a famous sea battle involving galleys. Most of her stats are pretty average. She'll make a so-so gold ship or boarding ship, or a decent fighter with her built-in Cannoneer.

The problem is her price tag. Why would I want to pay 14 points for a three-masted galley when the same points could get me La Tartessos, a superb five-master, or La Sirviente, a speedy three-masted schooner with excellent cannons and an S-board? The Lepanto isn't a bad ship, but she's badly overpriced.

Value for points: 2.6 / 5

Draco Starcloud Lepanto

We continue Fire and Steel Galley week with a Spanish galley that's good for fighting. Aside from being a Common galley that isn't a Barbary Corsair, the Lepanto is a very conventional Pirates ship: it combines a lot of classic fighter traits and doesn't have an unusual ability.

The Lepanto has a fairly typical fighter speed, one "L". She also has three 3L cannons for good support fighting. She has only three cargo spaces and has a built-in cannoneer, so she's got enough room that's better for crew than it is for gold.

The only problem I have with the Lepanto is that she's fairly expensive: 14 points. The high cost (for a three-mast boat) keeps an above-average boat from getting better marks.

I give the Lepanto a 2.5/5.
