Ability: After looking at treasure on a wild island,
you may trade any one treasure from that island for
a random treasure on any other wild island. This
ship must load the traded treasure.
When we think of Pirate ships in this game, we
usually think of small, fast, cheap ships. This one
is big, fast, and cheap for what you get, which
makes her a good flagship for a Pirate fleet.
Her ability, cargo capacity, and speed all say "gold
ship." She certainly makes a good gold runner, and
if that's all you use her for, she'll earn her keep.
With four masts, she can take a hit from any two-masted
fighter that tries to antagonize her, blow a
raspberry at it, then scoot for home. Her ability
lets you throw a 1-gold coin onto an island where an
enemy will be stuck with it, and grab something in
exchange that has a good chance of being worth more.
But with all that cargo, and four decent cannons,
why not put a Captain on her? You still have plenty
of room for gold, and now you have the option of
shooting back at those two-masted fighters, or even
chasing and sinking an enemy gold ship that gets too
close to "your" wild islands. If the foe sends a
heavily-armed thug after you, you've got the speed
to get out of there before you get hurt. A good
second crew would be Bruce Grey, the Pirate
world-hater, who effectively turns your cannons from
3-rank to 2-rank.
The four-masted schooner is one of the best-looking
designs WizKids has come up with. The Neptune's
Hoard isn't the prettiest example of the breed, but
she's one of the most useful.
