This is one tough customer. The USS Stephens has
slightly above average guns (it has two 3L guns and
a 2L gun), average cargo space and is still as slow
as the other five masters, but for an extra 5 points
it has built-in captain and reverse captain
abilities (worth 9 points with on one of the crew
cards). The USS Stephens clocks in as the most
expensive ship in Mysterious Islands. The tactical
options, the ability provides to the player is worth
the extra points. One does need to watch what crew
gets placed on this ship as she is already
expensive. She definitely needs a helmsman. One on
one against other ships her size the USS Stephens
would be equal, it is in games operating with other
ships that the benefit of her ability will shine.
I would love to field the USS Stephens in my fleets
