Nibiru, the Primal Being
– #TN19-EN013

During the Main Phase, if your opponent Normal or Special Summoned 5 or more monsters this turn (Quick Effect): You can Tribute as many face-up monsters on the field as possible, and if you do, Special Summon this card from your hand, then Special Summon 1 “Primal Being Token” (Rock/LIGHT/Level 11/ATK ?/DEF ?) to your opponent’s field. (This Token’s ATK/DEF become the combined original ATK/DEF of the Tributed monsters.) You can only use this effect of “Nibiru, the Primal Being” once per turn.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Nibiru, the Primal Being is a piece of tech the game needed a few formats ago.

Level doesn’t matter, this card is all about its effect. The ability to halt your opponent in an instant once they’ve Special Summoned five monsters during the their turn is like a car hitting a brick wall. Yes, they can play through this, but their face-up monsters will be gone and while they’ll get a token equal to the combined ATK/DEF of the monsters tributed that won’t matter if you do this in the Main Phase 2 or if this is in your opening hand. Further there are ways of taking that token away from them and making it all for not if they decide to sit on the token. You get a 3000ATK wall for your trouble and a monster you can use for Link Summons next turn if it makes it there, but lets not ignore the fact that decks have the ability to push through stuff like Nibiru. They can get another Special Summon, use that monster and the token to Link Summon, use moves you would use to dispose of the token (Thousand Eyes Restrict, Kaiju, Mind Control), but that doesn’t change that this monster helps exponentially against decks that spam Special Summons to create big boards. Also, there isn’t anything stopping you from waiting until the big negate monsters hit your opponents field and then using this. You want to get the most bang for your buck and wiping board-controlling monsters off the field is definitely on the top of the list.

Solid side deck card.

Oh boy, more hand traps, only this time it’s one you summon: Nibiru, the Primal Being.

Nibiru is a Level 11 LIGHT Rock with 3000 ATK and 600 DEF. It’s a standard two tribute monster (not accounting the effect) so 3000 ATK is good and 600 DEF is poor no matter what, Rock is something I can appreciate now they have a Rank 4 that searches every Rock in the game, and LIGHT is always a great attribute. This effect only triggers during the Main Phase, but it’s a Quick Effect, and if your opponent Normal or Special Summoned 5 or more times in a turn, you can tribute every face-up monster on the field to Special Summon this guy, and then Special Summon a Primal Being Token (Rock/LIGHT/Level 11) with ATK and DEF equal to the combined original ATK and DEF of the tributed monsters to the opponent’s field. So everything on the field quickly becomes two giant Rocks if your opponent decides to summon too much. That’s great honestly. Summoning 5 times is easy in this day of age, so your opponent should be extremely weary of this card. Sure you might give them a strong Token, but said Token could end up having low DEF due to tributing Link Monsters or monsters with naturally low DEF, so this thing can easily run over the Token before it is switched into ATK mode. Plus, if you can’t even out the Token, you might of been about to lose anyways, cause that Token should be easy to get rid of, even if 3000 ATK can’t run over it in either position. A downside here is that it tributes your monsters as well, but early game you might not have monsters, especially if the opponent went first and you drew this. This would extremely disrupt the opponent and potentially put them to a stop with nothing but a giant Token, a few other monsters, and some backrow (maybe). Nibiru has the hard once per turn clause, but I doubt that matters since this will stop 99.99% of what your opponent was probably about to do. Nibiru is a near staple I’d say for main and side decks, summoning 5+ monsters a turn is just too easy (and note it doesn’t have to tribute 5 monsters, it’s just 5 summons that need to occur).

Advanced Rating: 4.5/5

Art: 2/5 A few nice aesthetics, but mostly it’s just a giant rock.

Next up is a card that punishes your opponent for a massive swarm of the Field in Nibiru the Primal Being.  For a strange start, this is a Level 11 Monster (albeit one that can be Special Summoned, so that could open up some rogue Extra Deck plays) who is a Light/Rock with 3000 attack and 600 defense.  So first is a Quick Effect referring to the massive spamming of the board I initially referred to.

If your opponent Normal or Special Summons 5 of more Monsters during the Main Phase, you can Special Summon this card by Tributing as many face-up Monsters on the Field as possible.  Now this does include your Monsters, but odds are, if you’re opponent just swung the board in that manner, you probably are in a not great Monster position anyway, I would assume most often.

Special Summon of this card come from your Hand, and if you’re successful you get a ‘Primal Being Token’ who gains attack and defense equal to the attack and defense of all Monsters Tributed to bring out this card.  No specification as to position, so with 3000 attack, throw that Token out in Defense, and you should get rid of it easily.  Low defense Monsters are insanely common.  This is a great Hand trap/surprise; I’m a fan.

Art:  5/5  So Nibiru fits the artwork here.  The Nibiru cataclysm is a supposed disastrous encounter between the Earth and a large planetary object that certain groups believed would take place in the early 21st century. Believers in this doomsday event usually refer to this object as Nibiru or Planet X.  I get that here
