NEOPETS® TRADING CARD GAME UNLEASHES THE HIDDEN SECRET IN THE EXPANSION SET LOST DESERT

Renton, Wash. (July 25, 2005) – The Lost Desert is a sacred wasteland of Neopiaâ, and this summer an evil menace threatens to destroy the sacred city of Sakhmet. Fans of Neopia, the hottest youth entertainment network on the Internet, are invited to uncover the true story behind the myth with the newest expansion set for the NEOPETS TRADING CARD GAME (TCG) by Wizards of the Coast, Inc., a subsidiary of Hasbro, Inc. (NYSE:HAS). The 100-card set introduces a new array of Neopets – the Tonu, Kau, and Ruki – along with heroes, villains, and vile Curses that highlight the storyline brought to life at www.neopets.com.

The myth of the Lost Desert of Neopia began eight hundred years ago, when an evil prince schemed to wed the princess of Sakhmet. The ancient menace enters the castle of the present day King, insistent on marrying the young princess. Failing in this pursuit, he places an eternal curse on the city. Meanwhile, our two heroes follow the mad prince and uncover his magical lair, and thus embark on a quest for treasure and truth.

Lost Desert introduces a completely new Neopets storyline,” said Elaine Chase, Brand Manager for the NEOPETS TCG.  “Fans of Neopia are sure to love collecting all the new cards and will enjoy piecing together clues to solve the mystery and defeat the evil menace.”

In the NEOPETS TCG, based on the whimsical world of Neopia at www.neopets.com, players use their Neopets to compete in contests of strength, agility, magic and intelligence. When a player wins a contest, they put an Item or Equipment card from their hand into their bank. When a player’s banked card total reaches 21 points, they win the game.

Collect all 100 cards in NEOPETS: LOST DESERT and play the game to find out if the heroes can beat the evil villain. Each booster pack includes 8 collectable game cards featuring original artwork plus a virtual prize code* that can be redeemed at www.neopets.com for a chance at Neopoints® or exclusive virtual items.

Suggested retail price for the booster pack, available at game, hobby and mass merchandise stores now, is $3.49. New players should begin with the NEOPETS TCG two-player starter set which includes everything you need to learn how to play the game. The starter set has a suggested retail price of $9.99.
