Hello Pojo Fans,

Nauya, the Ogdoadic Remnant begins our look at the Ogdoadic archetype.

Spell/trap searcher for the archetype with some great DEF, but 0ATK won’t be winning you any battles. Getting the search off its Normal or Special Summon almost guarantees you getting that search. Ogdoadic Calling can set up your bigger Ogdoadic monsters, while Water Lilly is another Foolish Burial effect at the very least, a Monster Reborn for Reptiles at its best. Hollow can be a useful trap on your turn to bring back an opponents big for your Reptile, then get back your Reptile through one of its effects, and make sure to use that monster you took from them before the End Phase, otherwise it goes to waste. The Field Spell isn’t too bad, but many decks love using the grave, so the mill for different Reptile monsters you have in your grave could be a disadvantage. Discard to Foolish Burial a LIGHT Reptile does help the “Alien” archetype, but for the Ogdodic archetype it will send a good amount of the archetypes monsters to the grave. Sending this to send Keurse to the grave to set up its Special Summon would work, or send Aron to set up its Special Summon would be the best plays, however, you need one or two monsters on the field depending on your choice. Calling will fulfill either of their requirements, but you need to summon Nauya after having sent it to the graveyard to get both effects.

The deck has some monsters and some decent spell/trap support. Snake Rain can do what this card’s second effect does, but much better.

Here we are with Ancient Guardians already, and I’m sure players are excited to try out Ogdoadic variants, so we’ll start with Ogdoadic week and Nauya, the Ogdoadic Remnant.

Nauya is a Level 4 DARK Reptile with 0 ATK and 2000 DEF. A good DEF stat to at least make up for no ATK, DARK is a great Attribute to work with, and Reptile is something players were wanting more support for. Nauya has two hard once per turn effects, the first being the ability to discard itself to send any LIGHT Reptile from the Deck to the grave. Graveyard setup in an archetype that wants cards in the grave is pretty good, even if it’s a minus, but that never stopped people from using Foolish Burial. Upon this card being Normal or Special Summoned, you can search for any Ogdoadic Spell/Trap, which the only good one right now is Ogdoadic Snake Lily, but having access to any of them means you don’t have to max out if you don’t want to. Nauya is a decent card for Ogdoadic. Rank 4 access, searchable off King of the Feral Imps, DARK Attribute to combo with the LIGHT monsters. You probably rather revive this off other Ogdoadic cards over using a Normal Summon since you could probably find better Normal Summons to splash into an Ogdoadic Deck. Overall, it’s fine, worthy to max out on.

Art: 4/5 Very dark looking snake here.

Looking at another newer Archetype, here’s Nauya, the Ogdoadic Remnant.  A Level 4 defender here, having 0 attack and 2000 defense, also being a Dark/Reptile Monster, nothing there is initially that flashy.  Sending this from your Hand to your Grave lets you also dump a Light/Reptile Monster from your Deck to your Grave.  If you’re unaware, these guys like to dump themselves from anywhere to Special Summon (usually from the Graveyard) about as quickly as possible.  So even though you’re dumping 1, or likely 2 cards here, it’s a good thing for your strategy as a whole.  Even though it may seem you’re not getting anything immediate in return.  A Theme Magic/Trap from your Deck to your Hand off a Normal or Special Summon is good.  You don’t want to blow a Normal Summon on anything with 0 attack even to fetch a Magic/Trap of your choice.  Unless it’s immediately leaving the Field.  Each effect here is once per Turn.  Helpful enough, decent defender, but nothing too impressive here as we start the week.

Rating:  2.75/5

Art:  4/5  Not a lot going on here, but it’s got more of a Zombie than Reptile vibe to me.
