Around the age of 8, Sasuke’s older brother, Itachi (13) decided he would test his power by violently and mercilessly slaying all of his friends, family, and fellow Uchiha ninjas. It is unknown why Itachi left Sasuke alive, however it is speculated by Sasuke himself that Itachi wishes for his brother to become stronger by living everyday to destroy Itachi. Sasuke has called himself an avenger, stating that nothing is more important to him than becoming stronger than his brother and killing him, driving himself to train harder and longer every day. He has also become a sort of rival to Naruto Uzumaki with this fact, having Naruto constantly trying to out do Sasuke in training. |
