Playing Catchup: TK’s Vow of Honor, New Game on the Block 2, Upcoming Boosters and An Introduction to Teams
October 10, 2006

No, to the dismay of millions, Timekeeper is not dead. After a short hiatus from the Naruto Collectible Card Game (read: a month’s break) he went out and bought his Rock Lee (FTW!) Costume and 5 packs of the CCG (pulling a Lightning Blade and an Anko as the best, mind you.) He’ll also stop talking in third person now.

Anyway, today I propose something that will keep me from slacking off from my articles again. If ever I go a week (Sunday-Saturday) without posting a new article, you can feel free to E-Mail me shoving me to write it as well as the week’s article. Also, anyone who does this when the situation calls for it will receive a special mention in the article.

Seems simple, no? Now onto the next order of business: New Game on the Block 2. Many of you read this article I wrote, depicting the pro’s and con’s of the Naruto Card Game, or “NCG” as I call it, being the newest card game on the market. Now, currently I am sure this is no longer the case but the NCG is still relatively new and not many stores have been stocking the packs.

Today, however, I ran into and deciphered what seems to be an issue driving me crazy. I’m sure at least some of you have seen the literally “collectible” Naruto cards, the ones with no game attached and are just images from the anime and stock art. I saw an entire “display” of these at a local Target, as well as a few Starter Decks on their shelves.

I searched far and wide in this Target in search of real NCG packs and not the knock-offs (which do their best to confuse the public). So perhaps an issue with the Supply/Demand of the NCG is this: Stores are stocking the “knock off” cards and not the actual Card Game packs? I saw plenty of these, and starter decks, but no real packs. (However luck was on my side and the Toys “R” Us pulled through and had both Path to Hokage and Coils of the Snake).

The next thing I’d like to discuss in what is becoming basically a bunch of short discussions on the NCG is the upcoming packs: Curse of the Sand is the next pack, being released sometime this month. The pack brings only 7 clients, so those hoping to finally see some clients that don’t all seem alike might be a bit saddened. An issue I have with this pack is that even more cards are having similar names. Another Lightning Blade is being released, and another Thousand Years of Death. This pack looks very helpful for all those Taijutsu decks out there, with more Hyuga’s and another Might Guy (along with Rock Lee-FTW again!)

The pack art for CotS (another CotS..right after the last...Curse of the Sand is now officially CotSand). According to a poster (http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/3056/curseofsandpackfj6.gif I found while browsing the official Bandai Forums, four more starter decks will come out... apparently “Naruto VS Gaara” themed. (Atleast I guessed one new deck right! Let’s hope for a Taijutus theme in the Naruto Deck!)

It looks like Wind/Sand decks just got a whole lot of more support (^_^). If you’re wondering why a    Rock Lee fan is excited about this, my teammate (SilentDeath/Vmister) is an avid Sabanaku no Gaara fan. This has slid me nicely into my next and final subject, an introduction to teams. In and amongst the Naruto manga and anime, Teams are a vital asset to Shinobi everywhere. Just like in the Naruto Universe, Teams are ideally created as three-men squads and then allied into bigger unions. My team, Team 21, has three different decks as the focuses: Mine (Taijutsu/Zabuza Control) Vmister’s(Sand Destruction) and Justin’s (Sharingan Speed). We support each other’s decks by giving advice and practicing/trading daily, and also meeting when anyone buys more packs. So, why don’t you get together a team, and start getting better?

Teams can also assosciate with whatever Village Bandai has grouped them in. (I’m in the Mist...yay!)

That finishes my article today...My next articles will include Fan Mail*, Deck Garages*, more Starter Stylings, and a continuation of my Team Articles.

*These articles can’t be created unless I get some reader responses, so send in those emails!
