Hello Pojo Fans,

Multiplication of Ants was useless coming out of one of the best sets ever in the game. Nowadays it dos have more playability.

Tribute 1 Insect-Type Monster to Special Summon 2 “Army Ant Tokens” is a break even for you. You can use those Tokens to pay for effects or Link Summon/Synchro Summon using them, just not using them for a direct Tribute Summon. Using this on one of the Scout Buggy you summoned will facilitate Sting Lancer and you’ll have everything for tomorrow’s card: Giant Beetrooper Invincible Atlas (4 days of mentioning this Link I hope people like it). The problem back then with this card was there was either Tribute Summoning for big Insect monsters or wacky hard-to-do Special Summons for Insect monsters…locking out Tribute Summon was a bad thing but with the game still using Tribute Summons heavily they didn’t want people using this alongside Insect monsters that may have been splashable to get an easy Tribute Summon. Like most cards from the past it got better as the card pool and the game grew.

If you can manufacture Insects without costing you resources this may be a card to consider.

Throwback Thursday this week brings a card I didn’t think I’d be talking about in 2021, especially as a legitimately decent card: Multiplication of Ants.

MoA is a Normal Spell that by tributing an Insect monster will let you summon 2 Army Ant Tokens (Insect/EARTH/Level 4/ATK 500/DEF 1200) to your side of the field, with the only downside is that they cannot be tributed for a Tribute Summon. That last part has become more irrelevant as we’ve moved away from Tribute Summoning and more towards using monsters to make Extra Deck plays. Being able to turn 1 bug into 2 should instantly help make a Link-2 monster, or you can use more copies of this since it isn’t a hard once per turn to tribute one of the two Tokens generated to get more. Resolving all 3 copies of this should end you on 4 Tokens to make Links with, which are likely going to be Insects in Beetroopers, but you aren’t limited to that with this card. Overall, it’s a card that has aged well, especially with the advent of Link Monsters, and something to consider for any Insect strategy.

Multiplication of Ants is honestly not a bad option for about any Insect Player using an Extra Deck (and of course, you can’t use these Tokens for Tributing, because, not like Insect Decks like to Tribute at an abnormal amount anyway).  Ironically, requiring a Tribute (but denying you the return) giving you 2 Tokens in return.  While Tribute-proof, they can be Extra Decked into anything you like (as long as they obviously forbid Tokens in said Summon).  Also, you can use three of these in a Turn, so you could swarm pretty quickly with this. Plus, you should make sure whatever you send to the Grave for this cards activation gives you something (Skull Mark Ladybug is a free 1k Lifepoints remember).  The card, as most combo cards with Tokens are, is a combo piece.  But this one has some merit to be abused I’d say.
