Miriam (Scarlet & Violet 238/198) is a Supporter card that lets you shuffle up to 5 Pokemon from your discard pile onto your deck, and then you draw three cards.

It seems like she’s another “Draw 3 cards” Supporter card, except that she does more. That amount of resource excursion is almost unheard of, but I’ve seen much older cards that recover several Pokemon cards. Scared Ash (XY Flashfire 96/106) also shuffles 5 Pokemon from the discard pile onto your deck. Supporter wise, the most recent card that recovers resources is Brock’s Grit (SM Team Up 135/181), which shuffles 6 in any combination of Pokemon and basic Energy cards from your discard pile onto your deck.

Not sure how I’ll feel about this card, but she’ll be crowded out by even powerful draw-based Supporters such as Professor’s Research and a future card, Iono. There might be a few situations where recovering 5 Pokemon can be useful because you’ve just discarded a lot of them via Professor’s Research and Ultra Ball. But there are also situations where you want certain cards to remain in the discard pile; you don’t want to put Tatsugiri from the discard pile onto your deck because that’ll mean that Dondozo’s Release Rage won’t do any damage. Similar thing in Expanded; Night March will lose damage output and makes Battle Compressor counterproductive. The only place she might see play is in Limited, where draw-based effects are welcomed there.

Miriam seems to be a combination of Sacred Ash and the plethora of “Draw 3 card” supporters. It might seem unneeded, but who knows when she’ll see some play. After all, one of the former review crew underestimate Olympia (Generations 66/83), but given enough time, was seen how useful that card was in 2016-2017.
