Hello Pojo Fans,

Mecha Phantom Beast Auroradon rounds out a week of Link Monsters, and this one brings back a Link Summon’s favorite trick: tokens.

Low ATK for a Link 3, but its effect can make up for that. Machine-centric for summoning, you can use tokens to summon this as long as they are Machine-Type, which works well with the Mecha Phantom Beast archetype. With Crystron Halqifibrax now in the TCG, Auroradon can be made simply as long as you run a Level 3 or lower Machine Tuner. Three tokens off a Link Summon for the price of not being able to Link Summon anymore for the turn is pretty good. Tribute the tokens for another summon or a card effect, whichever will net you the most advantage. The effect of Auroradon can be decently costly, but is still pretty good. A good 1-for-1 trade for destroying a card is always a good effect to have. If run in the Phantom Beast archetype being able to pull any MPB monster from the deck and Special Summon it eliminates searching and tributing separately. Three monsters for a trap from your grave is pretty costly, even for something like Judgment or Impermanence. The best effect is trading a monster (likely the token) for a card on the field. Good ol spot removal never fails to be useful and with the abundance the archetype produces tokens it shouldn’t be an issue. Alongside its best Xyz: Dracossack, your big boss monster shouldn’t have a problem surviving with all the tokens.

Nice to see them still making cards for older archetypes that aren’t played in the meta. Auroradon could be played elsewhere than MPB but with how that archetype uses tokens and produces tokens it works best there. Regardless, no one is passing up that 1-for-1 with two extra tokens leftover for whatever you’d like to do with them, and you don’t have to wait to use them as well.

We end this week off with a Link that is becoming a real force with Crystron Halqifibrax, Mecha Phantom Beast Auroradon.

Auroradon is a Link-3 WIND Machine with 2100 ATK and arrows pointing Left, Down, and Bottom Right. Fine ATK for Link-3, weak Attribute and good Type, and those arrows are perfectly solid. The summoning requirements are any 2+ Machines, which is easy for MPB with all their Tokens being Machines and easy with a Halqifibrax getting Jet Synchron, Mecha Phantom Beast O-Lion, or Deskbot 001 from Deck. Upon Link Summon, you get to summon 3 Mecha Phantom Beast Tokens (Machine/WIND/Level 3/ATK 0/DEF 0) as long as you can’t Link Summon for the rest of the turn. The Link Summoning restriction basically makes this a hard once per turn, but who needs Link Summoning when you still got Synchros? This card has helped use the Tokens it summons for an easy Borreload Savage Dragon and Herald of the Arc Light, just to name one potential combo. The second effect helps that as you can tribute up to 3 monsters to apply the following effects based on the exact number of monsters tributed with 1 letting you pop a card on field, 2 lets you summon a Mecha Phantom Beast from Deck, and 3 lets you recover a Trap from grave to hand. The first effect is actually very nice for being the lowest cost, as popping cards is always a great thing. The second effect allows for Haliqfibrax combos with Jet Synchron or Deskbot 001 to get your Savage Dragon and Herald board by tributing your Auroradon and a Token for O-Lion to go for Savage and get the Token off O-Lion to tune with the Deskbot 001 or Jet Synchron. The final effect is the weakest, which stings considering it has the highest cost. The most common Traps now are Infinite Impermanence, Evenly Matched, or maybe some Solemns, and I don’t think you want to give up 3 monsters for that, even if they are Tokens. Auroradon allows for some insane combos in any Deck that can get to Halqifibrax, which is scary with all the 1-card Halqifibraxes out there. It’s a great Link that is worth having alongside the force that is Halqifibrax.

Advanced Rating: 4.75/5

Art: 4/5 It’s a cool ship, though kinda boring compared to some other MPBs.

Mecha Phantom Beast Aurooradon closes the week, being Link 3, with 2100 attack and a Wind/Machine whose arrows point directly down and left as well as bottom diagonal right.  Link Summon requires 2+ Machines.

SO so you can use this card as Link Material but you can’t Link Summon anymore the turn you bring this out.  You get 3 Tokens, which are the engine of a MPB Deck, so that’s good.

Once a turn, you can Tribute 1-3 Monsters (to include your Tokens) and gain an effect to whichever number you choose.  1 let’s be you destroy a card on the Field.  ANY card.  We love to see that.

2 lets you Special Summon a Theme Monster from your Deck.  Plenty of those requiring two Tributes to work around.  3 lets you recycle a Trap from the Grave back to your Hand. The last effect is good too, but even at Tokens, you’re investing lot for one card.

Still, this card does a LOT for you.  Hard to argue with results.

Art:  4/5  While I like what I see, it’s not particularly inspiring.

This is a versatile card with solid plays in and out of its archetype.

The meta has latched onto this card quickly, and with good reason. I’ll have to start my review by listing some cards that make great plays with this one.

Deskbot 001 can be used to Link Summon Auroradon and then immediately return to the field. You can then Synchro Summon a 4, 7 or 10 with no issue. Alternatively, Deskbot 001 will have a massive ATK. Multiple in the GY can be used per turn, so that leads me to the next card.

Mecha Phantom Beast Coltwing can be brought out via Auroradon’s search effect. Then, it will Special Summon 2 tokens by its own effect. Afterwards, 001 can be summoned again. This allows for even further Synchro Summoning as well as Coltwing removing tough monsters the opponent controls via its Banish effect.

These two cards make playing this card fun and can make for easy access to a win condition if the timing is right. Of course limiter removal comes to mind for expediting this option.

Being unable to Link Summon after this card hits the field is a needed balance. The HOPTs are as well.

I like the design of this card, as I do most Mecha Phantom Beasts. The concept is just cool in general.

I score this card a true 5/5. It’s really a perfect card across the board. I expect it will always be at risk of getting Forbidden, though, so collect at your own risk.
