Time for one of the archetype’s Link Monsters, here’s Marincess Coral Anemone.

Coral Anemone is a Link-2 WATER Cyberse with 2000 ATK and arrows pointing Left and Down. ATK is good for a Link-2, WATER is a nice attribute, Cyberse is a good type, and I can appreciate a Link Monster that works in either the EMZ or MMZ when it has effects depending on where it is pointing, which she does. The summoning requirements are any 2 WATER monsters, which should never be a problem since it’s pretty easy to get a lot of WATER monsters out. You can target a WATER monster in your graveyard with 1500 or less ATK and Special Summon it to a zone this card points to, but you can’t Special Summon for the rest of the turn except for WATER monsters. So after you do that Sea Horse and Blue Slug play I mentioned yesterday, you can go into this to revive either of those two and then you get an immediate Link-3, though it’ll have to be a WATER one. I like one card Link-3s when it doesn’t get too overpowered, and nothing in the Link-3 climb is overpowered in my view, at least compared to the rest of the format right now. I also like the lack of restriction on the archetype and position so you can get any WATER monster (Frogs, Mermails, Atlanteans, etc.) and you can revive Link Monsters as well. If this card is sent from the field to the graveyard, you can target a Marincess card in your graveyard and add it to your hand, as long as it isn’t Coral Anemone. Ok, it doesn’t loop itself, so that’s a plus. Again, I love when cards reward you for using them as material for something, really pays off for going into said summons, and this obviously works when you use this for a Link Summon, which you most likely will. It allows for more plays in later turns, which is never a bad thing. It doesn’t have to grab back a monster either, so you can get a Spell or Trap that you can make use of. Both effects are hard once per turns, which I expect to see on a lot of cards. Coral Anemone is probably the best Marincess Link Monster we got, it’s an easy multiple of in the Extra Deck with your Marincess stuff.

Advanced Rating: 4.5/5

Art: 4.25/5 Another pretty card, but I’m not liking the yellow that much here.

As would seem appropriate given how yesterday’s card worked so well with theme Link Monsters, here is one, in Marincess Coral Anemone.  This is a Link 2, Cyberese, Water Monster, with 2000 attack (rather good for a Link 2) with arrows that point to the immediate left and below of itself.  Two generic Water Monsters are used for a Link Summon of this card.

First off, you can Target a Water Monster of yours with 1500 or less attack from your Graveyard and Special Summon it to a Zone this card points to.  Simple enough effect, and with the left arrow, one that you can’t abuse too easily, but could be able to use more than once.  This does prevent you from Special Summoning non-Water Monster for the rest of the turn, but that shouldn’t be an issue for the player here.

When sent to the Graveyard from the Field (regardless of by which player or how) you can add a theme card (other than herself) from your Graveyard to your Hand.  Replacing and recycling options is always good, so I like this effect too.  It’s open ended, remember, not a Monster, so a Magic or Trap could be in play too.  That makes things more interesting and open for the player too.  Both effects here are once per turn.

Art:  4/5  Anemone is a genus of plant, and I do somewhat get a floral theme here.  Though I’m kind of more reminded of Ursula, despite her being brighter in color.  I still miss any real Cyberese feel, but I love the water backdrop on this card again, as I did yesterday.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Marincess Coral Anemone is the first Link Monster for the archetype we’re reviewing this week.

Two WATER monsters is easy to come by outside the archetype, including using WATER tokens. Free Special Summon for a smaller WATER monster from the grave to the link point Anemone points to, setting up another Link or Xyz summon. Restricted to WATER, but you’re likely climbing the links in the archetype. Anemone replenishes herself within the archetye with a different Marincess back to the hand. Get any of the Main Deck monsters or recycle an Extra Deck Marincess for use later. 2000ATK is strong for an easy-to-summon link 2. Her effect can be activated each turn to give you more board advantage, and her arrows ensure you’ll likely have an arrow to use her effect with. It goes without saying that her second effect will also trigger when you link climb using her, added bonus.

Marincess use her, but other archetypes like Cloudian, Cryston, Frogs, Gishki, Graydle, and Mermail could use her effectively in their archetypes. She has a lot going for her, even if her second effect won’t help outside her archetype.
