Basically it is easy to see there are a lot of cards here that untap your lands afterwards, which makes a huge advantage for untapping mana for counterspells. The creatures do so, and also a few of the return cards and counterspells so pretty much they arent getting much done. For an additional backup there is the buyback cards like capsize to take anything not countered off the field and to draw multiple cards like Whisper of the Muse. Memory crystals maximizes these effects and even though it ends up being a slower deck it is ultra reliable. Try it out.
