Subject: Elf Swarm by: Gabriel Giraldo (extended format) Elf Swarm The deck’s strategy is to either hold your opponent off until you amass a huge army to blitz kreig him or to slowly ping away at him. Choose depending on the situation. Also the order of which you play certain things is crucial, i.e. Wirewood Hivemaster. Play this then a creature that way you get an insect token. Lands: 23x Forest 2x City of Brass (or Forsaken City) Total - 25 Creatures: 2x Tribal Force Mage 4x Elvish Vanguard 1x Seedborn Muse 2x Elvish Archers 2x Elvish Champion 1x Elvish Soultiller 3x Fyndhorn Elves 3x Llanowar Elves 2x Wellwisher 1x Heedless one 1x Thorn Elemental 2x Timberwatch Elves 2x Wirewood Hivemaster 1x Elvish Pioneer 1x Gempalm Strider Total – 27 Other: 1x Coat of Arms 1x Steely Resolve 1x Vernal Equinox 1x Test of Endurance 2x Fog Patch 2x Exoskeletal Armor Total – 8 Combos: I. Heedless One + Timberwatch Elf = 2x Heedless One’s Attack II. Test of Endurance + Wellwisher = eventually win the game III. Steely Resolve = your elves cant be targets of spells or abilities IV. Elvish Vanguard = gains +1/+1 every time you play an elf, not much left to say V. Coat of Arms + Elvish Champion = all your elves gain huge power boost and forest walk VI. Thorn Elemental + Timberwatch Elf + Coat of Arms + Exoskeletal Armor = giant load of damage if hits, usually enough to win the game. VII. Seedborn Muse + Vernal Equinox = play enchantments and creatures on opponents turn VIII. Seedborn Muse on its own is amazing There are a few combos. The deck works by having all the different elves maintain a nice control of the field with strong monsters, pumping effects, and life gaining. Also with Steely Resolve keeping your elves untargetable they become hard to get rid of, since you can pump them or block with a stronger creature. The deck though faces problems with 3 things. Early walls, Wrath of God, and anything with protection from green or forest walk.
