From: JasonAB73@aol.com Subject: Peasant report Pojo, You people have an excellent site. I have only recently discovered it and haven't seen so much information and well-written articles put together since The Dojo was up and humming. It's noticed and appreciated. I went to GenCon 2001 with my cousin, Gerald Davis. I had heard about this new kind of tournament format called Peasant and thought it sounded cool. We built our decks in the hotel room the morning of the event and went down. We had an excellent time and I finally had fun at Magic again. Gerald placed 9th and I made it to 3rd-4th. This is the deck I played… Pack O' Fat Rats--Team Granny's Gang style # Card name 4 Mogg Fanatic 4 Goblin Patrol 4 Goblin Raider 4 Goblin Elite Infantry 4 Mogg Flunkies 4 Lightning Bolt 4 Chain Lightning 4 Incinerate 3 Fireblast 2 Rhistic Lightning 3 Spellshock 20 Mountain I lost to the deck that went on to win the tournament. I had great opponents all day and we all laughed a lot. Good times. I played in several other tournaments at the Con but none had that insane, anything-goes attitude that Peasant did. How long has it been since you've been channel-fireballed?!?! I returned home to southern Indiana, (almost Louisville), with a new excitement for the game. Earlier this year, I heard of a new shop in the area (about 4 minutes from my house) and was eager to check them out. It was great. A bunch of very nice guys who, like me, were sick of the BS and knew that fun was more important than winning and that it was o.k. to help out and encourage new players, not just tell them they sucked. Mike and Pat, both very good guys, run the shop and they have tournaments constantly. If you're reading this you're probably into Peasant Magic so there is a Peasant tournament there on Saturday, Feb 9th at 2:00pm. It's going to be a good time. Contact me if you want more info. Props to: Gerald, for making it to GP Houston. Mike and Patrick, thanks for the cool shop. Larry, for being a pimp and playing insane decks. Josh, for beating Burt. Blake, stay strong lil' bro. And keep attacking!! Preston, for being a good guy and a good player. Brian, for knowing you can beat 1 Story Circle, but not 4. So don't even try. Slops to: Gerald, for scrubbing out at GP Houston. Burt, for not rolling the damn d20. Burt, for playing that "poke" deck Burt, for being a ferret. Allan, clean it up. Burt, for being Burt no matter what. (I guess that's really a prop. Oh well.)
